Old Parliament House (OPH) Rose Garden is looking amazing!

On my way to work I often walk through the OPH Rose Gardens and I have to say with all the recent rain we have been having the gardens are looking spectacular.

I am in no way a flower person but even I can appreciate the strong perfume and sea of colour that is on display. The side with the tennis court on it (I think it’s the house of Reps side) in my opinion is the best.

bare-foot bowls would be great there during the warmer months – wasn’t there a croquet club there a little while back as well?

Would love to see a photo of the rose garden.

Invite charity matches on the bowling green…what a fab idea!

Pity the lawn bowling green isn’t looking particularly impressive. (taken on Saturday)

It was still a functioning and registered club in the 1980’s with Parliamentary staff playing twilight bowls after(and during) work, away matches etc. Other clubs in Australia used to covet the hat badges with the crossed mace. Bowlers all over Australia I am sure would love to see the green re-established and I think invite charity matches would be popular and rewarding.

Not really adding anything here, but my grandfather helped plant the rose garden and I was married on the bowling green.

That’s all.
