Om Shanti College?

punching the air

While down at the Cook shops this morning, getting milk for my early morning cuppa, I noticed a posted advertising courses for “Professional Organisation” and offering to train one up to a certificate in such things. As some one who is as organised as a one legged man on a pogo stick in a ball bearing factory, I kooed further. Unfortunately it didn’t really tell me what they percieved “Professional Organisation” to be.

Then I noted the name of the college; “Om Shanti”, which struck me as ...well… unusual to say the least.

Looking at their website, which is a triumph of style over content, it would appear they are Canberra based.

Anyone had any dealings with them?

PS You have to love the “punching the air in great joy/triumph” image they use on their front page, very inspiring

I agree . I did my initial study with Om Shanti College when it was owned by the founder , Sandra Morgan. The business has been around for many years and has always been highly professional. The massages and treatments are all therapeutic and there is nothing dodgy about the business, neither then or now .

They also offer heaps of community services like student clinic for massage and student professional organising sessions.

I have been going to Om Shanti College for many years and have had awesome massages and treatments. It’s actually a beautiful big space -nothing dodgy whatsoever. Primarily a Registered Training Organisation offering Nationally recognised training in Massage, Aromatherapy and now also moving into Professional Organising and other business and corporate related training. I understand they have been around for over 20 years and I have sat next to some of Canberra’s celebrities and politicians while waiting for a professional massage. Om Shanti is the furtherest thing from a massage palour or new age cult. If you can pull yourselves away from your computers and walk up a flight of stairs, you will be more than pleasantly surprised. If you have a great massage outside of Om Shanti, they have probably been trained at Om.

This is the one in Grifith Shops right? It’s wedged between shopRite and the news-agency! Really narrow space and looked dodgy. But I never knew twas a massage parlour as well 😉

The mind boggles! Paying someone $75 an hour to “de-clutter”?

Actually, there are some common sense skills most people don’t think about which can be used to “de-clutter”… Should cost something, right? For example, I once did such a course, and I’ve always kept manageable email inbox ever since.

Still, not sure about $75 per hour unless massage is included.

I found the link to the “Professional Organiser” course.

Are you someone who has a natural predisposition to being organised and know people whose lives would improve if they would just let you show them how to be organised?

Professional Organising is an exciting new service industry in Australia. As a profession it brings huge satisfaction as you help a client achieve an organised home or office and regain balance and control of their lives. You can earn an excellent living from de-cluttering. Starting from $75 per hour.

“…Looking at their website, which is a triumph of style over content…”

You think! Looks more like a triumph of (poorly presented) content over (absolutely no) style to me.

I did a massage course there years ago- they were good, but don’t see how they could extend themselves to this sort of Yankeee Apprentice style me me me psuedo-science…

I spoke too soon. They DO have the Hindi writing!

Are they serious about the corporate branding? At least a bit of tie-dye and sandals is more about what they actually are, or one of those lovely understated vaguely biological-looking squiggles (green please, and maybe some Hindi writing in it) for the new century.

The name reminds me of this

I’ve been to Om Shanti a number of times for massages. They are completely legit, do an excellent job, but are a little new age.

No need for any panic, folks.

No dealings with them however the “College” has been located at the Griffith shops for years. I have always thought they were some sort of new age cult.

I used to get theraputic massages there quite some time ago when it was located at Griffith shops, and I presume its still there. A nice old lady from Spence owned it. Seems they are expanding to ‘life coaching’ now as well.
