This in from 7.30 ACT on their program tonight:

1. Foreshore Views

The Kingston foreshore promised a cosmopolitan utopia – lakeside apartments, shops and art galleries and coffee shops. Its critics say little of this has come to pass and unless you’ve got a few million to spend on an apartment, there’s nothing for the rest of us. Original architect, Colin Stewart rejects those claims and says the lakeside Utopia is on its way.

2. Brumbies Future

Ross Solly interviews Brumbies chief, Andrew Fagan. 2011 was the team’s annus horribilus – so how do they plan to turn it around it 2012.?

3. Our Man from Burma

Hong Sar Channaibanya left Burma when it was in the grip of the military dictatorship. He has made a new life in Canberra – and works helping others to do the same.

4. Doggerel

Writer, arts patron and local treasure – Barbara Blackman has written a book of doggerel – about dogs.

a lakeside Charnwood?

I thought that’s what Kingston Foreshores was.

Actually Kingston Foreshore IS an eyesore that is the epitome of what Canberra should NOT be.

Canberra is supposed to set an example of egalitarianism. The Kingston Foreshore gives ‘the bird’ to this, as the developments prevent visual and physical access to lake views and can only be afforded by persons of extreme wealth. It is also an aesthetic mess, a hotchpotch of ghastly developments.

First story was the laziest piece of tripe I’ve seen in a long time. It made those “Try a sport” segments on Win News look insightful by comparison.
Not sure why he kept going on about the place being elitist, really had a b in his bonnet about it. Would you like the opposite, a lakeside Charnwood?

Elites should pay their own way – not be aided and subsidised by a “Labor” government.
