On hoaxes and The Academy

The first of these images is a hoax against The Academy that’s circulating via email.

The second of these is The Academy’s counter-hoax.

I am, however, assured by a source close to management that over 25s really will be getting in free this weekend.

So there you go!

Academy might do a bit better by sacking its gorilla security staff. Mmmm plod might like to pay them some scrutiny as well, rather than being in cahoots with them.

Free entry? Pfft!

How’s about a get-out-of-jail-free-card so you can carry out that aggravated robbery or sexual assault without fear of prosecution!?

From their Facebook:

The over 25s thing is a hoax, as such we are offering free entry all weekend to anyone over the age of 25, this weekend to support that.

Discrimination for under 25s i say!

i don’t think i would even bother going if it was free anyway to be honest

agreed

I can promise you it wasn’t a viral marketing campaign.

I dare say a Moosehead groupie has too much time on their hands, sent this to a friend who stupidly believed it, and forwarded it on.

I doubt is was a hoax pushing that sexual harassment line.

But I thought that ADFA was mainly for young people anyway?

About the only thing that makes me think the initial pic might have been made by someone else, it the fact that the second one reads kinds arkwardly, while the first is more like a new paper article.

But then, if this was put together by an advertising agency, they might have that level of attention to detail.

I don’t think I have ever even been in Academy.

I too thought fake, but it had the 20yos in our office excited and half a dozen of the 40yo cougars angry.

But it has its believers on Facebook, and I can give you the names (and Departments) of people who chose to forward the email without first removing To: and From: data.

my vote is for the viral marketing too

I’m with you, P1. It’s a carefully orchestrated meta-hoax, because just advertising a “over 25’s get in free night” would just make people laugh.

I laughed. HAHAHAH! That was me laughing.

Or a very well executed bit of viral marketing. Damn, out comes the cynicism again.

What a pathetic attempt to bring down one of Canberra’s to nightspots.

Over 25s get in for free? Awesome!!
