A 37-year-old Florey man was arrested by police last night (Tuesday, May 17) after engaging in a pursuit through a number of Tuggeranong suburbs.

About 11.30pm members from Tuggeranong Police Station were on mobile patrol in Chisholm when they attempted to stop a silver coloured Daihatsu Charade with four occupants on Halley Street.

The driver failed to stop the car when indicated to by police and led police on a chase through Gowrie and Wanniassa, reaching a maximum speed of 100km/h, before stopping in Kambah. The driver then took off on foot with police apprehending him a short distance from the car. The three other occupants had remained in the car.

The driver was arrested and taken to the ACT Regional Watch House where he was later bailed. He has been charged with drive while disqualified, dangerous driving, not obey direction of police and possess prohibited substance. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court on May 31.

4 people in a Charade? And during the pursuit, the perp reached a *maximum* speed of…dare we say it… 100km/h?

Jeez…I can park faster than that. It must’ve looked like a comedy sketch.

Still, if we can get another disqualified, intoxicated arsehat off the road, I’m more than happy. Cheers to the rozzers for a good, if apparently easy collar.

Maybe the charade thought it was a brumby?

LOL

Is there anything more lame than trying to outrun a police car in an overloaded Charade?

I bet it made plod’s night to follow these fools around for a few blocks.

Heh well the police vehicle that pursued the Charade was a hilux paddy wagon, the Charade looked like it was doing quite well against it. Although the proper police vehicles weren’t that far behind in trying to tag on.

Glad the police caught the scumbag, it’s a pity he didn’t put the car into a tree and hurt himself though.

Another win for the family gene pool obviously – I’d say that family tree hangs fairly close to the ground! Congratulations to the local Police for that catch.

Is this 37-year-old Florey man from a family we are familiar with?

Maybe the charade thought it was a brumby?

And the Charade expired on the spot, presumably. Poor little thing.
