Once would have sufficed

There’s little in this world more dangerous than an enthusiastic idiot.

The Australian brings word of a Turner man who set out trying to call the police and ended up charged himself, after the alleged 60th call.

The 45-year-old man, from Turner in Canberra’s inner north, had called police yesterday to report the assault of his former partner in Western Australia.

Police officers attended to the call, but the man continued to dial triple-0 more than 60 times even after being warned he could face criminal charges.

Officers eventually tracked the man to his home and caught him while he was still on the phone, police allege.

Perhaps best kept off the streets.

I wonder if he’ll be allowed to use his right to a phone call.

And will he call 000….just once more.

nice.

There was a report recently hat 70% or so of 000 calls shouldn’t be made to 000. kind of ties up the line when it should be only used for emergencies.

Police attendance is 131444.

This has been a community service announcement.

Unless there is a crime in progress. I’ve called 13 444 before and the message at the beginning tells you to dial 000 if you’re witnessing a crime right now.

bailed – no restrictions

In the words of Ozzy Osbourne:

You try so hard to quit
But you’ll never admit
You’re the junkie
There’s no reasoning why
Cause the mirror don’t lie
You’re the junkie

taco: Nah, we should go all-out and install dedicated Police Call Boxes around the ACT.

Perhaps they should make the police attendance number easier to remember, like just 444
Or put up an IVR on 000 “For life threatening emergencies, press 1. To speak with a police department, please press 2. For Crime Stoppers, please press 3.”

So, was he aware that police were attending the call in WA on his 60th call?

Maybe not. Sounds like he panicked.

At least we know you can get through…

off the streets? nah, best on them, with neither coins nor a mobile…

Pissed, scared for his friend, and frustrated, it sounds like to me

if they let him out – he’ll just do it again.
