One way around the water restictions

On Wattle Street in Lyneham there’s a front lawn looking particularly lush.

How could this be in this era of water restrictions? Closer inspection reveals the answer:

Yep, it’s an astroturf front lawn, do you vacuum these things instead of mowing them?

I installed astro turf in my front back. We have 45 MM pile height CSIRO tested premium turf and we save lot of water and have all time green turf. price is also reasonable $28 per SQM if any one needs it. They can contact evergreen turf supply canberra.

Yeah real nice unless you fall over and get burnt. Ever fallen on that synthetic stuff…stings a lot more than regular grass. My 2 cents.

One thing about this drought I’m going to miss when it does start raining again – peaceful weekends not shattered by the dulcett tones of lawn mowers (invariably running one after the other – never all at once).
Courtesy of much laundry bucketing, had to actually get the mower out last week, and the noise was almost embarrassing…

No good if you have a puppy dog though, they’ll never want to take a dump on it (if Pandy’s experience is anything to go by)and they might explode from all the backed-up poo…

The photographic example here would dictate otherwise

Astro turf belongs in roofed U.S.A. stadiums. Not under the harsh Aussie sun.

I imagine the landscapers like that in five years time you’ll need to replace it like carpet.

Saw the one in Wattle St on Sunday when I was walking the dog. It looks fantastic! unfortunately the dog did not want to do a dump on it.

I’ve heard that the synthetic grass business is taking off. Even professional landscapers are using it. It’s apparently much nicer than it used to be.

There was a feature story on Synthetic Lawn, Sunday in CT

After the rain we’ve had in Kambah over the last couple of weeks, our assortment of paddock grass, weeds and unidentified flora we like to call a ‘lawn’ has returned from the dead with extreme prejudice!

Our imported (From the US) leaf blower has an attachment which turns it into a vacuum cleaner. In the manual it recommends it for synthetic lawns.

do you vaccum these things instead of mowing them?

I guess there is a market for a fake lawn mower.

I’m thinking a normal petrol lawn mower, with the blade removed.
