Happy World Consumer Rights Day everyone! Ok, it’s a little belated. WCR Day was on the 15th and I had no idea. Still consumer rights are a fantastic thing and it’s great that there are rules that enforce them. What wouldn’t be great though is a business to getting charged hundreds of thousands of dollars because they didn’t know their responsibilities. So there’s this to help. Everybody wins!

“The Small business self assessment checklist was designed to help traders understand how the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) applies to their business activities, and to better understand their obligations when dealing with consumers” said ACT Commissioner for Fair Trading, Brett Phillips.

“All businesses have rights and obligations when dealing with consumers,” continued Mr Phillips.
“However, small business owners don’t necessarily have the time to work through legislation or explanatory guides to identify which regulations apply to them.

“This interactive checklist enables traders to quickly and easily identify which sections of the ACL apply to them, and directs them straight to the information they need to know.
