Woden Community Service (WCS) is hosting a Christmas Day Lunch for people who may not have family or friends to share the festive season.

The event provides an opportunity for people who may be on their own at this time of year to come and connect with others in their local community.

Lunch is free to attend and community transport provided by WCS is also available so it really is open and accessible to everyone.

Lunch will be held on 25 December from 12-2pm at the Lyons Early Childhood School, Cnr Launceston St and Tarraleah Cres Lyons.

This is the fourth consecutive year that WCS has hosted Christmas lunch and from the response it gets every year it’s evident that there is a need for these kind of events.

It’s sure to be a really nice atmosphere and a really great day for meeting new friends in a relaxed and easy going environment.

To RSVP, book community transport, or for more information phone 6282 2644.

Beautiful. Many years ago, the wife and I moved into our Army married quarter (Albury/Wodonga) a few days before Christmas. With our families being interstate/overseas we rang Meals On Wheels to see if they needed any help on Christmas Day. They took our details but said that they were covered. It was after midday on Christmas Day when we received a call to say that someone hadn’t turned up.
By the time we got to start dropping meals off, there were some hungry/anxious clients but what a memorable day.
