Optometrists – A Good One?

By cranky - 1 August 2009 19

Growing old has brought gradual decrepitude to the sight department, for Mrs Cranky more than moi. Both of us have specs, but mine have remained fairly well unused for the last 10 years.

Not so for the child bride. Hers appear to be a magnifying type, rather than a correcting type lens. I cannot remember being asked any questions regarding how well I could see an object whilst being tested, rather the Optometrist seemed to look into the eye and come up with a correcting value.

The bride reports being asked, as various slides were introduced, “is that better, is that better?”

Her current specs are causing confusion when changing focus from say, a page in front of her to a cross table focus.

Are there diferent methods of establishing the problem, and the prescription supplied?

And who is recommended for a FAQ job?

What’s Your opinion?

There’s a black Canadian guy who works at “The Optical Superstore” 28-36 Ainslie Ave, he did my last test and fittings for specs, what with me being a speccy bastard and that. I was very impressed with his professionalism and the service I received. (Though obviously not so impressed as to remember the chap’s name!)

Highly recommended.

His name is Faran Sabeti!
Have been going to him since i was 16. He is great! and really funny…
His wife also tests at The Optical Superstore. She is more patient with children. But Ron (thats what he calls himself) is better with the older patients. My dad goes to him for regular checks, will not see any other person. Apparently he is a researcher at ANU too. So, you are in good hands!

I’m happy to agree with Gin02. I use Specsavers Belconnen as they are convenient for me. I have had appointments with both of their optometrists and both were professional and provided a good script.
