The Canberra Raiders report that star signing Matt Orford needs surgery (for his groin) and won’t be playing any more. This may actually be a relief to Raiders fans given Orford’s form on the few occasions he’s managed to drag himself onto the park.

Winger Daniel Vidot is also off on compassionate leave for mysterious reasons.

The other major concern for the club is the immediate future of winger Daniel Vidot, and while Furner confirmed he has some issues to tend to he wouldn’t reveal anything about them, due to them being of a personal nature.

“The club has decided to give him some compassionate leave,” he said.

“There are some personal and private things there that Dan is battling with.

“It’s a private matter for Dan, so we have looked at the best way of dealing with that through Dan and the club and this week he won’t be playing, he just needs that compassionate leave and that’s what we have decided.”

The Wooden Spoon looms.

Well, whatever it is I hope that he’s okay and can sort it out.

I’ve dusted off the boots just in case I get a call up – which sadly may happen all things considered!
