ACT Policing has arrested a 28-year-old Gordon man after a pursuit yesterday afternoon (April 16).

Around 4.15pm police were conducting a patrol in the Griffith area, when they saw a white Toyota Corolla accelerate heavily and then pass the police vehicle.

The officers followed the Toyota for a short distance before attempting a traffic stop on the vehicle.

The Toyota then fled from police along a number of Griffith streets before the pursuit was terminated.

Around 4.50pm the same officer involved in the incident located a man walking along Captain Cook Crescent. The man was identified as being the driver of the Toyota, which was located a short distance away.

Further enquiries by the officers revealed the Toyota had been reported stolen.

The man was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House and was charged with a number of traffic offences.

He will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court this morning when police will oppose bail.

Police Officer was just sore he lost the drag race….

Police in general don’t like it when you overtake them (even at the speed limit).

That’s because most of them think of themselves as angels that can do no wrong

If you know most police, you’ve got at least one thing in common with the driver…

You base that on what, exactly?

The CT reported the offender’s name and surprise surprise, he is a well known halfwit.

they couldn’t keep up with a corolla?

I think it’s about keeping up with the Corolla safely. There are more ways to catch a crim than running his car off the road with potentially tragic consequences.

they couldn’t keep up with a corolla?

If brains was electricity, he’d be a walking blackout…

A friend of mine drag raced a police car off the lights.
Not the sharpest tool in the shed.

These thieves do such a great job standing out to the police

Accelerate ‘heavily’? That makes me want to heave!

Something in this story makes me suspicious, could be the absence of a white commodore or the police’s claims that the corolla accelerated heavily.
