Canberra’s ace busker Owen Campbell had another run Australia’s Got Talent last night in the semi-finals.

How did you rate it?

On another note amazing to see a Canberra artist sitting at Number 4 on the national iTunes charts (overall, not the blues ghetto).

the dude will go no further and he gets 2 cents in the dollar for Itunes sales so let not get so excited!

I brokered the deal for Owen with Itunes, so I will tell you that of those sales, which are now in excess of 8,000 album wise. Itunes retains 30%, brokerage is 20% and Owen pays tax on the remaining 50%. Album sales from his website are not as strong. But for the amount that he donates to charity, Owen rightfully keeps the remainder of 22$. A very very handsome earning for him in the last week. I can also tell you that, in addition to the majors, many labels are currently trying to sign owen. But alas, Owen will be obligated to see out the terms of his AGT/SONY contract first.

Does he do that cartoon voice as a joke? He should be ashamed that his years of street-wise music making have amounted to a caricature of the blues, to a back beat. John Mayer was bad enough the first time, and he could play.

He was busking yesterday in civic…iTunes ain’t paying his bills just yet

I love it how the AGT idiots make it look like Own is playing those ripping guitar solos .. when it’s probably another, more qualified member of Canberra’s talent pool

Ah, I see you don’t play guitar yourself. Too bad. As for ripping blues solos, try Joe Bonamassa…

Refuse to watch any more ‘talent’ shows on TV (even the ads are painful) but I remember seeing Owen play at the Irish Club on Sunday arvos a couple of times and he was pretty darn good.

Hope he achieves what he wants from this show.

I can tell you now that Owen was most certainly playing those ripping solos. I was on the bass behind him. If you need convincing, he’s playing at the Phoenix on Monday night.

P.S. they had to comb the beard. No trimming was required thank god 🙂

Ouch. There’s no way that’s right, it’s definitely him, that’s Owen’s bread and butter.
Thrilled to see other Canberrans on stage too.

It’s some sort of surrealism and I don’t know what any of it means.

I know. I clicked on just towards the end of the number and went, ‘Oh my God, that’s Matt Nightingale back there — did he trim that rather impressive beard for TV, or was there some sort of fire restrictions under those studio lights?’

I’m paraphrasing.

#2 on the charts now! Good on him. He was one of my classmates at the CIT music school about ten years ago, it’s cool to see him getting some recognition.

Good luck to him. The advice to take it up a notch commercially will test him I expect. I thought the comments from the dickhead on the end (no, the other one) with the backhanded compliment about Campbell’s support of the little kiddies were bordering on vile. Zero sincerity from him; should that be a surprise?

Given that Seasick Steve was number 1 on the Blues chart last at the time of your last article, its description as a “ghetto” seems particularly apt.

Loved his song, great act but he looked like he was swallowing razor blades every time the judges talked & he kept his mouth shut (not surprising as they are not judges bumholes….)

Discalimer: I did not actively watch AGT last night (cant stand it), it was on before another show that my wife wanted to watch & irritatingly ran over 15 minutes so we managed to see Owens act.

the dude will go no further and he gets 2 cents in the dollar for Itunes sales so let not get so excited!
