[ACCORDING TO IBN NEWS] The Attorney-General Simon Corbell has announced interstate competitors in a paintball match in Tuggeranong in October won’t be prosecuted.

He’s issued a special direction yesterday to that effect.

Apparently firearms laws as they currently stand don’t allow anyone from interstate to bring paintball guns into the Territory for paintball competitions.

We need to get the laws changed now so players who live in the ACT can own their own markers. Tournament Paintball in Australia is a rapidly growing sport, The Australian Masters next weekend (17-18-19th Nov) is proof. Teams from US, NZ and Aus all converging on Action Paintball in Sydney for 3 days of fast paced action.

ACT has 2 teams participating in the 7 man event, Team Uprising, who took out Division 1 at the South Pacific Championships in Brisbane this year and a new team forming for the Masters, Capital Punishment. Capital Punishment have been training with Uprising out at Predator Paintball for the last few weeks, and look forward to their first major tourney. We also have a representative side entered in the 10 man ‘State Of Origin’, where the top players from each state battle it out for the honour of their region.

We have alot of talent in the ACT, I think we would uncover even more if the laws were in line with NSW firearms laws (and the rest of the country for that matter bar NT and TAS)and the tourism spin-offs from national tournaments potentially being held here would be huge.

git behind wagga wagga, git behind, come ’round, come on, come on, git behind, git behind, come on, SIT. good dog. WAGGA COME HERE. GIT BEHIND! throwing hat on the ground)…ah ya mongrel. wont stop chasin’ the chooks.

It wopuld be fun to hand out paint ball guns to all Liberal MP’s for their next party meeting.

Forget the paint of course – they feed on blood.

paintball is banned in the NT !!!
as will speeding be soon

So the headline should be “ACT Government agrees to honour commitment”.

Sadly enough, that’s probably exceptional enough to still be a story…

I’m glad Simon decided not to prosecute after Kieran went to all the trouble of gaining permission for doing exactly this.
