PANDSI cake off

PANDSI (post and antenatal depression, support and information) is a local charity helping over 250 families a year experiencing perinatal depression and/or anxiety. To help them increase support, education, information, and referral services they host an annual fundraiser “CakeOff” where 80 Canberra themed cakes will be on display & available for purchase via live & silent auctions with a $40 starting price.

All money raised will go directly to PANDSI to ensure its services can expand to meet the growing demand of supporting local families when they need it most. This is a ticketed only event. $5 per adult (+30c per ticket booking fee) and free for children. Book your tickets here through Trybooking.

The CakeOff will be held one day before Mothers Day on Saturday 13 May from 2 pm to 4 pm in the Federation Ballroom of the Hyatt Hotel Canberra, 120 Commonwealth Avenue, Yarralumla, ACT 2600.

Some of this year’s themes for cakes include the Belconnen Owl, Telstra Tower, Floriade, Summernats, Constable Kenny Koala, and the Australian War Memorial. Everyone who is helping create the PANDSI Cake Off Canberra theme fundraising event is volunteering their time while working, looking after kids and dealing with life in general.

This vimeo below from the 2016 PANDSI CakeOff is a great tribute to the success of last year’s PANDSI CakeOff, held on 7 May, at the Hyatt Hotel Canberra. Last year’s inaugural event had every cake from the Australian Women’s Weekly Children’s Birthday Cake Cookbook, 107 in total! It was a tribute to all the mothers that worked hard to ensure the fundraiser was successful. Filming and Cinematography by Avon & Imalka Dissanayake of Sparkling Weddings

Last year’s CakeOff attracted baking and cake fans from across Australia. One Melbourne food blogger Melbourne Gastronome captured pictures of all her favourite 2016 PANDSI CakeOff cakes and posted them on her blog.

This year PANDSI have set up a GoFundMe with a goal of $25,000 to go towards supporting this cause, with the ACT Government committing to donate dollar for dollar matching for the PANDSI Cake Off.

This looks fabulous. I had always wanted a Dolly Varden cake; sadly never happened. Maybe next time. Can’t wait to see how people represent Canberra. I’m sure it will be amazing.
