Parking Belconnen Style!

parking

I walked past this parking catastrophe in Belco recently.

Note that the driver has managed to take up two parking spaces, while the front of the vehicle protrudes into the walkway, with the left hand front quarter parked in the garden bed of the tree.

It really doesn’t get much better than this.

Whereas in the Inner North, Inner South and Woden, everyone is perfect! We parallel park one-handed, gripping our lattes, while listening to Radio National, allowing Tristan and Isolde to leap out of our European cars and run into school without rumpling their uniforms.

Actually, I drive a Camry. But it’s not white.

(Note total ignorance of Gungahlin.)

I’m still not convinced that a single example of a particular parking methodology from a particular suburb constitutes a parking style characteristic of that suburb. If this manner of parking was characteristic of Belconnen, surely every other car would be parked in the same manner? And if they were, it would be inconsiderate to other drivers to park otherwise, wouldn’t it?

And even then, if this driver were to park in Gungahlin later, would s/he be required to park Gungahlin Style?

Come on, I think several examples across a range of dates are needed to constitute a local style!

no

LMAO!!!

Its the Governments fault for not doing something about their driving instructors handing out licences to people with no driving skills or reading skills for that matter. They should do something about it.

I remember years ago seeing a porsche parked in the middle of two spots, and one of those tiny daewoo matiz thingys had squeezed in next to it anyway. The porsche owner was pissed!

No, No …..its a CamrAy…….

all it needs is a blue DX/DC numberplate…

on a side note – on Saturday afternoon I found that if I get creative I can take up ten carpark spaces (two rows of five) at once in my white commodore + trailer

When I were a lad I used to read Mad Magazine. One time it had stickers in it, one of which said “Why take up two parking spaces when, with a little more effort, you could have taken up three?”

I’ve often thought of photocopying a sheet of those and putting them under windscreen wipers.
