Parking in Barton- where?

Anyone have any ideas of where I can park near the Hotel Realm end of National Cct and be relatively certain of getting a park each day? More than happy to pay for the carpark (either $x per day or lease it on a more long term basis).

Unfortunately, public transport is not an option for me. Everywhere I can think of is long term and full with hefty waiting lists.

I was previously able to park at my workplace but with these new FBT issues coming into effect it appears I might be left out in the cold.

Would appreciate any insights you can provide!

Massive dirt carpark at the end of Blackall street off National Cct. FREE.

And FULL!

It depends when you get in each day… get in early enough and you can probably snag one between Minter Ellison and DBCDE up Sydney Avenue.

Any idea how early you need to be to snag one of these?

Get in before 8.30 and you should have no problems.

Wherever you park hope you find a place that has staff who know what customer service is.

Secure Park in the City (Marcus Clarke) have the rudest people working for them. Asked a staff member about the costing arrangements for a permanent parking spot and was told in no uncertain terms to F*** off, don’t have time for this S***.

I pat the $8 a day at the Ottoman carpark as I am in and out all day, so it is pretty convenient – the free parking around my place in the morning disappears pretty quickly as soon as I move my car. It’s closer to my work than Realm, but a mate of mine works down that end and only recently signed up on a monthly basis for $2750 a year at Realm.

At risk of playing devils advocate here… Invest in a pushbike and ride? 🙂

If cycling all the way to work is not an option for you… also invest in a bike rack for your car, park in west fyshwick, dairy flat road (last I checked parking was free there) and ride from there along the jerrabomberra wetlands path.

Less than 4km to Barton will take you under 15 mins each way at a relaxed pace on a bike, 40 mins walking… plus will save you $50 odd a week in parking, >$2000 per year.

+1. Please consider a bike.

There is a paid parking carpark on blackall street which since becoming paid is always empty. i was there this morning at 10 and it was maybe 10% full.

Should only be a 5 – 10 minute walk to realm, and you can get a coffee and egg n bacon roll on the way from lachlans cafe 🙂

There is the open air park next to the Ottoman. Since it went to pay parking it is rarely full.

Hotel Realm has parking in the basement – mainly for visitors to the hotel or the serviced apartments (business and residential).

When I’ve visited a couple of businesses during the day at Hotel Realm there’s always been a lot of spare spots (ie 90% empty).

The Baptist church on the corner there rents spots to people. You might want to just check with the ATA (Trucking Association) which runs the Minter Ellison Building, they have 2 levels of parking underneath which is only half full (tenants parking but it still costs each staff member), and they might be up for selling you a spot.

There’s an open-air car park behind the ANAO building that I believe runs on a lease system. I’d be mildly surprised if they don’t have spots available, as I’ve never seen it full. No idea of prices or anything, but it might be worth looking into it if you haven’t already.

The Realm also leases car parks, but I expect they’re sold out. There’s hourly parking on the first level, but that would probably get quite expensive.
