mawson parking

Just so Gungahlin doesn’t feel like we’re picking on it Martin B has sent in this cracker from Mawson observing wryly:

pity such neat parking isn’t in a real parking place

Should definitely send this to the powers that be. How you going to argue with photographic evidence like that?

It’s an undercover cop car?

Nah… Can’t be, it’s not parked in the Manuka Taxi rank.

I hope they at least were displyaing a disabled parking permit.

Yeah he’s parked illegally but the appalling driving of the average Canberra driver is a much bigger issue.

I totally agree, but we vote Labor so our collective social conscience is assured.

[to use a genarality] we are just a bunch of selfish pricks. For empirical evidence please see photograph in post.

This use to happen a lot in the Jamison Parking area. But no more since bollards were installed in the access gaps. (for want of a better description) Although I have noticed one run over near the playground.

In Gungahlin those bollards have all been removed (permanently by the looks) as they were repeatedly reversed over, by (I’m guessing) quality Canberra drivers unable to check their surroundings before reversing.

Now this is distinct evidence of the failure of quality control measures in the association of parking styles in particular suburbs. As well a Rawhide’s observance of this so-called ‘Mawson style’ being used in Jamison, I can further complicate the association of this style of parking with Mawson by three recent examples of ‘Mawson style’ in Wanniassa. If there’s only one photograph of ‘Mawson style’ in Mawson, but three examples of this style in Wanniassa, does the photographic evidence really win out over the three unevidenced examples?

I was going to say – who gives a sh*t about all these minor parking transgressions. Honestly isn’t there more important things to worry about? And then I saw Carnardly’s comment – indeed he is blocking the wheelchair access and that is pretty A-h*le.

What an A-h*le.

We should care about them anyway. More examples of the break-down of civil society.

Come on- these posts are useless without the rego plate visible. Surely that isn’t a breach of privacy?

A photograph is merely a moment in time.

A moment in time spent illegally parked. 🙂

Certainly highly likely

and he’s blocking the only bit of ramp gutter that someone in a wheelchair could well need to use.

self absorbed lazy git.

Well spotted. Blocking a footpath access ramp is an offence under the Australian Road Rules, though I’m yet to hear of it being enforced in Canberra.

“198: A driver must not stop on a road in a position that obstructs access by vehicles or pedestrians to or from a footpath ramp or a similar way of access to a footpath, or a bicycle path or passageway unless:

(a) the driver is driving a public bus that is dropping off, or picking up, passengers; or
(b) the driver stops in a parking bay and the driver is permitted to stop in the parking bay under the Australian Road Rules.”

Be fair. How else was this turd going to be able to reduce the utility of 2 disabled parking spots?
