Anyone have any ideas or experience with street parking around Tuggeranong and walking into work? Will i upset the locals by doing this? Am i better off paying for roof parking at the hyperdome or parking at the hockey centre?

If someone parked out the front of my place every morning, id slash their tyres. Why you may ask, why not i say!

If I caught somebody slashing my tyres anywhere for any reason I would take the offending instrument and jam it up their arse.

You have been watching too many Steve Segal movies.

The chances of you catching an offender in the act, are slim to F all. This would be when you ring your wife/partner and ask her to come out and help you change the tyre. Hopefully its only 1, and not all 4.

Ummm, isn’t the car parked outside your house? You’re not very smart are you.

How does ones car being parked out the front of my house, have anything to do with ones ability to see their tyres being slashed from a kilometre or two away?

It doesn’t really matter. You are a pitchka that does not have the balls to face somebody in person and tell them that you have a problem instead you would rather anonymously vandalise their belongings. Any reasonable person that you have anything to do with you will detect this and walk away saying “What a pitchka!”. This is because all reasonable people have a built in pitchka detection system that warns them away from you. Pitchka’s may be found anywhere in the community however are especially prevalent as bank managers, higher level public servants, school teachers, parking inspectors and other occupations where they can make decisions that affect the lives of others and obtain the feeling that they are more important than they actually are. In our situation here you can pretty well guarantee that the entire neighbourhood where you live will be mainly reasonable people that have detected you as a pitchka a long time ago. When the victim of your vandalism inquires in your neighborhood as to who may be responsible for the damage to their car, they will be quickly directed to your front door as most likely the only pitchka in the street. Here is a possible dialogue between two reasonable Australians in the same situation…

Home owner: Hey mate, is that your car parked there every day?
Car owner: Yeah mate, is it all cool?
Home owner: Well it sort of gets in my way.
Car owner: So sorry mate I am just trying to find somewhere a bit cheaper to park. How about I drop a six pack on your doorstep every now and then.
Home owner: Well why didn’t you say so, I drink Melbourne.
Car owner: That’s no worries consider it done, and if you see that pitchka next door slashing my tyres let me know will ya.
Home owner: Sure will mate, he is such a pitchka, wish he would piss off somewhere else.
Car owner: Yeah, I bet everyone around here does.
Home owner: You can say that again. See ya mate.
Car owner: See ya, oh and thanks a heap.
Home owner: No worries mate, all good.

This dude, who works somewhere near the Hyperdome, parks his annoyingly loud POS 1990 MX5 in front of my place almost every day. Often he returns to his car at the end of the day with one of a number of male friends, at which point they spend a few minutes in the car fumbling around in their laps – I assume checking the latest going ons on the Riot ACT with their phones. Either that OR they’re up to something else even more disgusting. I’ve been tempted to unleash some Pitchka tactics on him but don’t want to be a karnt.

so, you’d vandalise someone else’s property for parking legally in a public (ie, not solely your) street for which they have paid registration fees and taxes [presumably] thus paricularly entitling them to do so just to spite them for wanting to get some exercise and save a few coins (having no idea of their financial situation). nice to be nice, innit…

Correct, suburban streets are narrow enough as it is, without some lazy prick parking their car there every day to save themselves a few $$. It starts off with one car, word of mouth gets out, then 2, 3, 10, 30 cars, then what?

OP never stated thay wanted to park there in order to get some ‘exercise’. Just a tight ass.

I pay rego etc too, taxes too blah blah blah.
Cant afford parking? Clearly cant afford the cost to run a car and its associated costs i.e. parking. There are other ways to get around…

we’re in australia, as if you didn’t realise – it’s tight ‘arse’.

and excuse me, but the fact that streets are narrow doesn’t stop someone from lawfully parking in one; they don’t need to be abused by foulmouth scum like you. why would you castigate someone who chose to walk for a kilometre rather than a couple metres ‘lazy’ anyway – what a weird world you inhabit…

tell you what, crawl back into your box and come out when the nuclear disaster sirens tell you its safe, ‘k?

Abused? Im not engaging in conversation with them at all. Simply sending a message with a sharp metal device.

I dare say if your street were to be made into a public carpark, with cars mounted up kerbs, perhaps some parked on the road making it a tight fit for 2 cars to pass through safely past one another in opposite directions, you may actually pull your head out of your ass.

Last time i parked at the Hockey Centre it was $4/day.

Are you considering parking in Oxley/Bonython and walking to FaHCSIA/HS?

Perhaps you had better tell us your address so we make sure not to park out the front of your house.

where is the fun in that?

Blues1 said :

I could pay for parking, but I never have any change or money on me, its all plastic these days.

Plenty of banks in Tuggers. They all have plenty of change.

The Country Comfort Hotel offers weekly parking at reasonable rates but I belive that spots are limited

Yep, that’s what they are like.

I temporarily lived in Kambah a few years ago while house-hunting, and my car was vandalised 3 times – clearly by a phuckwit like pitchka who didn’t like my car against the kerb on the public street outside their house.

You wonder why the teenagers of Kambah are such scum? Check out the adults of Kambah…..lamentable small-minded morons.

Thank you all very much 🙂

The locals all sound rather scary and i’d rather not upset them. hehe, Yeah was thinking of having a nice walk to work, used to park around Woden and walk in and that was pleasant.

Hockey Centre sounds good.. dropping daughter off a child care in Belco then driving down, so getting early isn’t an option on most days.

Parking in Tuggers? Get in early (before 8) and you won’t have ANY issues. One second later and you’re in a world of hurt.

That reminds me, I’ve left my car down at Homeworld all day. D’oh.

Sounds like id to me. Freud was onto something after all.

Street parking where there are no restriction signs is fine as long as you are considerate about it. Some areas near urban centres do have time restrictions for parking though. If it is where the residents usually park, it may not be appreciated. But if the spot is usually clear during the daytime, it should be fine. The only problem I ever had with street parking in Canberra was in one of the older suburbs where they don’t have signs for bus stops. Or there is usually just a wooden pole in the ground to indicate bus stops, because you can’t park at bus stops.

There is a fair amount of free parking around Tuggeranong but does fill up quickly. Some of the spots include Anketell Street, Scollay street (recyling depot end) and also an area out the front of pine island.

If you get in later you have the hockey centre which you have to pay for or the rooftop. If you dont care about walking there is plenty of parking around Greenway and then about a 1.5km walk to the shops along the bike path

Yeah, you will upset the locals 🙂
