angle parked ute

Deborah sent this in with the following note:

Thought I would share this one with you – parked in Woden on 11 May.

This vehicle sounds like a Mac truck (what the) when its rolling but the, ahh, angle parking really surprised me.

“Thumbs up to the owner (as long as they don’t wake the neighbours). Why so much hate towards anyone who doesn’t conform to the Canberra square?”

Fair question, and I would like to clarify my previous post in light of it. I don’t mind if his/her car is higher/lower, but not both on the same car. I imagine quite significant handling issues, and a speedy switchback might even unbalance it completely. I’d like this car fixed for the owners/passengers safety.
If it levels to a horizontal ride prior to moving off, ala older Citroens, I’m totally cool with it and retract handling issues comments.

Not sure if serious? It’s quite obviously airbag suspension which returns to normal height at the push of a button. I’m really hoping anyone who’s posted about driving it lopsided is just trolling.

It’s not really bucking the trend if they’re just following a different one, though- all these ‘trucks’ seem to have adjustable suspension, crap paintjobs (usually iwth an unpainted panel or two) and chrome rims…

Everything’s a trend the difference is the owner is out there doing something they enjoy and that’s positive, the while most here are sitting at their computers doing something they enjoy and it’s negative.

The worst Woden Style parking I saw was last week when some clown who had left their 80s model laser parked on the ramp between the parkway and hindmarsh drive, just near the island. No effort to move it at least move it onto the island or onto the grass on the other side. Nope, just left it on the road like an inconsiderate jerk for other people to nearly hit.

I didn’t see the location of the car, but it most likely was parked there because they suddenly broke down. So they wouldn’t have had much opportunity to move it and pushing it uphill would be fairly impossible. Although perhaps they may have been able to sit in it and lift of the handbrake and roll backwards to put it closer to the side? It may have been someone from one of those demographics that are not good drivers though hahaha and lacked the confidence to do this, especially if there were cars coming up frequently

How DARE they own a car that isn’t exactly like everyone elses? Do they not understand how much it hurts other people that their taste is not the same as the mass majority?

Low intentions.

i thought the issue was it wasn’t reverse parked…

Not laying frame… *yawn*

Looks retarded.

I for one am disgusted that anyone in Canberra is allowed to own anything that is not a grey Corolla, Mazda 2, or Prius.

I just assumed he/she/it was very short and this eliminated the need for a step ladder to get in and out of the ute.

Maybe the passenger was a little overweight, and would balance the suspension once they were in the car?

(Why only insult one group with this thread/comment?)

Thumbs up to the owner (as long as they don’t wake the neighbours). Why so much hate towards anyone who doesn’t conform to the Canberra square? There’s another one of these I’ve seen on my morning commute, green and black with the most considerate driver. Some people do enjoy cruising in their cars, it makes them feel good so be positive and let them be.

I’d hazard a guess that the driver has intentionally let down only one side of their airbag suspension in order to achieve that which they have achieved. People looking and talking. Sure, they may not be getting the positive comments from this board that they hoped to but I doubt there was a shortage of teenage voices uttering things like “fully sick” or ” awesome” within that vicinity at the time.

In fact, I wouldn’t be surprised if the owner was standing on the opposite side of the car park with several equally bogan friends, watching the OP take the photo and revelling in the warmth provided by her sense of self satisfaction that comes from owning such a cool car that get attention so easily.

It’d look almost normal parked on a gutter. Of course, it’d be facing the wrong way. Can’t say I understand how the person could seriously drive it tho.

Really gotta find out where these toy utes are coming from. I’ve seen a couple try to make it around corners, scraping the pavement on the body work because they’ve been lowered and having trouble with traction. That and they look dumb.

I wonder that myself. They all seemed to appear mysteriously one day- I imagine a shipment of them showed up on the docks by accident so a fad was manufactured to flog them off those who are … uh… more easily influenced by popular trends.
