Congratulations are in order to the staff at the Parliament House gift shop here in Canberra.

All the world’s news is celebrating their efforts in printing a souvenir mug for a cancelled visit misspelling the name of the President of the United States of America.

Hey, that extra “r” can be really hard to spot in proofing! And then you end up with “Barrack Obama”.

Sadly they’re destroying the mugs. They could have sold them one a week on ebay and made a killing.

Was in there the other day and could not find a single thing worth buying. Now I wish I had one of those mugs! Waaaaaa…

This is why you didn’t get the job Al

Aha! I wonder whether the misspell (sp?) was due to the presumably unqualified son or a parting gift from his pissed off predecessor?

Yours truly got interviewed (but not selected) for the job of managing all those APH commercial services. Reason given was while being strategic enough, had too much attention on detail. Seems an eye for detail matters sometimes… 😛

“Alan Thompson told AFP news”

Well lets see if he remains employed. Probably as it is impossible to sack anybody in the public service.

Not fired, he’ll just get promoted. Explains the choice of departmental secretaries in a lot of cases.

At JB the words “killing” and the “President of the United States of America” will get Echelons attention.

Having said that, if they sold it on Al-Zahra eBay, they would have made an assaination of sales.

Oh come on it waz a joke Echelon.

His name is too confusing for Australians. Let’s just call him “Bruce.”

Save a lot of confusion…

You mean his name’s not Bruce?

Personally I think it is a waste of tax payers money to destroy these mugs, and we should keep them and sell them anyway. Surely Bazza is too busy with that oil thingy to care.

Tricky. Is it an order to house the President in soldierly quarters? To give a rousing Australian cheer of support? Or to give a more British jeer of derision?

I always thought the usual misspelling was “Barak”. More congratulations are surely due for creating another one.
