Frequently Asked Questions

What's the best material for outdoor pavers?

This depends mostly on what look you're going for with your outdoor space, but nevertheless you want to look for a material that will last. Stone, concrete, slate and cobblestone are all attractive and durable options.

Is it cheaper to lay pavers or concrete?

Pavers can be more expensive for materials and installation compared to concrete slabs, but can be about the same price when compared to stamped, decorative concrete. Talk to your supplier and landscapers to figure out what your options are.

What is cladding?

Once you've laid your outdoor pavers, it's important to ensure that they will last. Cladding refers to a layer of material that is applied on top of an existing external surface to provide protection from the elements. It can also provide thermal and sound insulation, and makes cleaning the area so much easier!

Can I lay pavers on my own?

Whilst you can DIY your own pavers, it requires lots of materials and particular landscaping skills and techniques. Outsourcing the job to a professional paver means putting the job in the hands of a professional, and ensuring quality, safe and attractive installation.

Can pavers be used indoors?

Pavers can absolutely be used indoors. Concrete slabs in particular are becoming more and more popular - not only are they are easy to clean and maintain, but are great temperature regulators, helping you save on gas and electricity for heating and cooling your home.

I just had Matt and his two staff from Blade’s Landscaping create a deck and slate steps for me. I give them 5/5 stars for service, price and workmanship. I couldn’t be happier. Highly recommend. And really nice blokes too. I found Matt on the Riot Act, but here is his website if you want http://www.bladeslandscaping.com.au/

Although this thread is a bit old, I would like to recommend Matt Conrick and his team from Blades Landscaping.

They have just completed paving our curved driveway (almost 100m2) and I am really pleased with the result. I wanted them to use recycled bricks supplied by us, which they were happy to do. We also wanted an entry path, pad for the bins, a small area of modwood fencing and a gate. They also removed three shrubs with the bobcat and lay some irrigation pipe across the drive – nothing was too much trouble. Completed the job in a week.
They are all very polite and left the site looking neat and tidy.
Matt is also a horticulturist and has done other landscaping work for my neighbour.
Price was reasonable. I didn’t bother getting another quote having seen their work next door. Matt 0409487278

Thank you everyone recommending Teague. We got a quote from ciske also recommended here. Quoted nearly 4 times more to lay pavers than Teague. Teagues did great job he was on time. Recommend him to everyone. Did exactly as we asked we are very pleased with our courtyard. We wanted a flat courtyard on a sloping block merging into a sloping car port. Not really a simple job. Got it in before Christmas too!

Would you mind giving us an idea on the size of your courtyard and how much it ended up costing?

Hi,
I made a recommendation on The Riot act, a few months ago, for a 3rd generation paver called Ciske Van Oudheusden. He did a terrific job on 3 areas of paving and was extremely reasonable.
Great chap and easy to get along with. Got stuck in and finished on time.

Just had some done by Teague – good job and very competitive price. He came in well below a lot of other quotes.

I can send some photos of our job if you’d like.

Man, I’d go with this Teague bloke purely for the fact that his logo looks like the cover of a 1980’s/90’s metal band! Bonus points if he turns up to the job wearing dessert boots, tight black jeans, has boofy long hair and a wafer thin moustache!

Would you rather he wear a suit and tie???

Purely tongue in cheek.

Genuinely though, I really do like his logo, it’s cool.

Yes, please. Are you able to post them on a site and share the URL here?

I’m sure that Teague hasn’t a monopoly on paving in the inner north. Any other suggestions?

Any one knows Teague email id ?

Thanks. I’d be interested in pics, but how to receive? Did they charge by the hour, or for the whole job?

Let me know how you go with that, spades? I’ll have some paving work to be done when I can afford it and/or find someone affordable to do it for me.

Interesting.

I’m looking for similar work done, but because I’m on a budget I’ve started contacting concreters instead. Might save me a few hundred bucks.
