People Power Canberra are rocking Cook this Saturday:

Join us at Cook shops, where the money you spend at participating shops will be invested in reducing emissions in store! We’ve provided an energy audit to the Cook Friendly Grocer supermarket, Jina’s Hair Studio, Canberra Jewellery Repair and Restoration and Aqua Hair. All they need now is a little cash injection to get started. On September 8, we’ll be bringing a mob of shoppers who want to make a difference to make it happen!

What: Community festival – stalls, music, raffle, prizes, special deals, sausage sizzle and fun for the kids. Spend money at participating shops, and the dollars you spend will finance emissions reduction.

Where: Cook Shops, Cook Place, Cook

When: Saturday September 8. Join us 10am-2pm for stalls and entertainment

Who: People Power Canberra are a collaboration between SEE-Change, Canberra Clean Energy Connection, Canberra Loves 40% and AYCC ACT.

This is a great example of local groups working together to make a practical difference. SEE-Change and the other groups involved are helping small businesses do something that will improve their bottom line: everytime someone scoffs about the need to reduce emissions they forget that there are sound financial reasons for using less power.
