People really are crap - RSPCA asks to not be used as a kennel

Sometimes I really despair of humanity.

The RSPCA has put out a media release asking the scum of the earth to not dump their pets instead of kennelling them.

“Each year many people don’t plan for boarding kennels over the Christmas holidays and so they abandon their pets to us, and then get another dog the following year. We are receiving dumped pets at the rate of 20 per day. Our facility is at breaking point.”

The scary thing is these people also have children, and governments care about their mouth-breathing opinions.

The homeless and the starving don’t rely on us for everything, they have voices and rights. Our animals are subjugated to us, we own them, and we control their lives. We can have them killed. They have few rights. They are often very obliging creatures, willing to please, and often this goes unrewarded by those in whose custody they live.

This results in many people feeling more protective towards animals than the homeless.

You can feel concern for animals and have compassion for people as well. One doesn’t preclude the other.

I just cannot, cannot fathom how people can do this. I just can’t. It is a sort of sullen evilness.

There are a lot of sullen, evil people out there. More than one would suspect.

Pets are for life people. It’s sad how someone can be so cold and just dump their pet who loves them and is loyal to them just because they cant be bothered to look after it or pay to put it into a kennel when they take holidays. The worst part is they will just do it again next holidays. If only it was harder to get a pet, then maybe people wouldnt look into getting one so readily.

There are so many pet friendly options for when people go away on holidays. I own the All Animal Minding Service in Canberra and provide In-Home pet care. So easy for people to go away and have their pets looked after in their own home. Anezka

This just makes me sick. I would rather stay at home with my dog than dump it just so I can go somewhere.

No, we’re talking about scum who have no qualms about abusing the services provided by the community.

It is beyond comprehension. Can you just imagine the dog, watching the bastards walk out? It’s disgusting. And they are raising their kids to think it’s OK to do this. SCUM.

if these lowlife scumbags DO have kids, it actually shows an even worse side to these parents – imagine how upset the kids would be losing their beloved pet??? i was always devastated as a child when one of our pets died, and that was through natural causes or accident. not because my a##hole parents decided to dump tabby at the RSPCA the moment they become inconvenient. wonder if kiddies lie awake at night wondering if they’re next?

This just makes me cry – literally sit here with my eyes full of tears and cry. And hurt. And it makes me want to hurt these people – which is bad, but its how I feel. I don’t understand how anyone could do it – dog, cat, bunny, horse, anything – how could you do it???

Somtimes I hate how selfish and souless people can be.

You livin in a bubble or what? Society has come to this because of most people’s quiet acceptance of the downward spiral of values. We are just reaping what we sowed.

If anyone knows of people who dump their animals, these sub-humans should be reported, named and shamed.
Yes I have a dog, and yes it would be easier for me to catch a bus or train to go on holidays, but I will be driving so I can take my dog with me, as she is part of the family!

Retrospective abortions are needed for people who do this.

maybe the female dogs are the pets and an unwanted litter is just a nuisance. $200 spent now is a far cheaper price than the cost of living for 6 new puppies.

The thing is, everybody dumps their dogs at the RSPCA because they have a “no kill” policy, but what people don’t realise is that when space at the RSPCA gets low they just send dogs to Domestic Animal Services (Canberra’s pound) and their euthanasia rates are quite high.

IIRC the RSPCA don’t put down unwanted animals. They kennel them until they’re rehomed.

They still put down the unhealthy and those with congenital defects to the best of my knowledge.

And those with behavioural issues that would make them an unsafe pet (i.e., biting/aggresion).

Ugh, some people just don’t care about anything that isn’t themselves.

Does “boganity” count as a congenital defect? Sounds like a good excuse for euthanasia to me.

I think that this was originally a reference to the humans rather than the dogs.

I agree with you johnboy. Either euthanasia, or mandatory spay/neuter for serial offenders so they can’t bring more mindless offspring into this world.

I just cannot, cannot fathom how people can do this. I just can’t. It is a sort of sullen evilness.

Deano said :

Aren’t all dogs microchipped in the ACT? If so it would be pretty easy to identify the serial dumpers and refuse them a replacement dog.

Or improve society with a new use for the RSPCA’s euthanasia facilities.
