ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an attempted robbery in Phillip last night (Tuesday, November 1).
Around 11.30pm, a 35-year-old woman was walking along Wilbow Street in Phillip when she heard someone walking behind her. She turned around to see a man holding what appeared to be a replica firearm.
The man demanded the woman hand over her handbag, and she refused, believing the firearm to be a toy. He left the area, and was last seen walking towards the Woden Cemetery.
The woman ran to Woden Police Station to report the attempted robbery. No property was stolen.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, approximately 165cm (5’5”) tall and aged in his late teens to early twenties. He was wearing a black hooded jumper and dark-coloured pants.
Police are asking anyone who witnessed the aggravated robbery in Phillip last night to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.
