Threepaws has sent in a set of pictures from this year’s RSPCA Million Paws walk with these points:
Sorry, should have sent you some info about the day too. Some dot points (let me know if you’d prefer I provide a spiel):
Our biggest event yet – over 10,000 people and 4,000 dogs
Well on track to reach our fundraising target of $200K
Rod and Biggzy from 106 mc’d the event, along with Danielle Post
Katy Gallagher cut the ribbon
Over 60 stallholders – food, drink, crafts, kids entertainment, rescue groups etc
And to dispel some common myths about MPW:
You don’t need a dog to participate, you can just come and admire the spectacle
You don’t even need to do the walk, you can just hang out at Stage 88
Money raised goes to ALL animals not just dogs (domestic, native, livestock)
And in closing – wow! It’s really heartwarming and uplifting for staff and volunteers at RSPCA to see so many people make the effort to support this event. We obviously all love animals, and it’s nice to see that so many other people do too.
Canberra has one of the highest pet ownership rates in the country and we should be very proud of the turnout we get to this event each year. It is the third busiest walk out of 70 across the country, after one in VIC and the walk in Perth.
Massive thanks to Canberrans – it was yet again one to remember
Here’s the slideshow. And if you’ve got photos of your own send them in to images@the-riotact.com .
