We just got this email from Hilary about the next PHOTOWALK event.

Quite a a few of you Rioters have skills with a camera so you should probably check this out if you’re free.

Hi guys!!

The 6th PHOTOWALK Canberra is on THIS Sunday the 25th August starting 1pm at NGA Sculpture Gardens.
Meet near the shiny cones and we will be walking towards the Old Bus Depot Markets so we can get there before it closes and have a cuppa!

Let’s walk lakeside, under Kings Ave Bridge, past the swans and through the Kingston foreshore precinct.
I love the old buildings there, and it’d be good to get some architectural shots and shots in and around the OBDM, too..

As always I shall share details of when and where on twitter @PHOTOWALKCanber

And to see images from the previous walks you an check out our Flickr Group here

Hope to see loads of you there again!!
Bring a smile! Have fun! Be creative! Participate!!
It’s FREE!!

Sounds good, I’m in! Anyone done this before ?

Yes I have done a few photo walks. With some friends we also organise smaller ones via the Google+ Canberra Photographers Community: https://plus.google.com/u/0/communities/117521193502219671953

You can pick up a lot of ideas from observing what other people are looking at, taking shots of, how near, how far, angles, lens.

But you have to talk to people also to find out what they might be doing inside the camera that is interesting, such as tweaking the white balance temperature to give a golden glow to a sunset, radically alter a shot through depth of field changes, that sort of thing.

Be prepared to ask questions. Everyone is usually very open to sharing ideas and results.

You’ll improve your photography far more through a few sessions like this than many hours of trialling stuff by yourself.

Sounds good, I’m in! Anyone done this before ?
