The ACT Rural Fire Service (ACTRFS) Jerrabomberra Brigade will tonight, Thursday 20 September, 2012, weather permitting, conduct a hazard reduction burn at Pialligo Winery, Kallaroo Road, Pialligo.

The burn will commence from 7pm to 10pm.

One heavy tanker, one medium tanker, one light unit, one command vehicle and 11 personnel will conduct the burn of two piles of wood and vegetation.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn is L12.

The purpose of the burn is to remove a fuel hazard.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
