Next month, the Art Gallery of NSW will farewell Picasso: masterpieces from the Musée National Picasso, Paris.

The exhibition features some 150 paintings, drawings and sculptures from the Musée National Picasso in Paris. These are ‘Picasso’s Picassos’ – the works he kept in his own possession, which only after his death in 1973 were given to the French State in lieu of taxes.

An Australian first, the exhibition showcases seven decades of Pablo Picasso’s art. Every phase of his extraordinary career is represented, including masterpieces from the Blue, Rose, expressionist, cubist, neoclassical and surrealist periods.

Made possible only by the closure of the Musée National Picasso in Paris for renovations, the Gallery is the only venue in Australia on the exhibition’s world tour. This is a rare opportunity to see work from the world’s most celebrated artist on such scale outside France.

The exhibition must close on 25 March – don’t miss your chance to see the most significant Picasso exhibition ever to come to Australia. Pre-purchase timed-entry tickets online at www.ticketek.com.au/picasso or call 132 849.

I somehow don’t think my first effort ‘Swan that looks like a fat duck from all angles’ will be accepted in lieu of taxes like Picasso’s. People’s five year olds could certainly do better. (And little kids are not as inhibited about getting things right as older people.)

But it is fun.

Agreed.

And finally a chance for the art cretins who say, “my five year old could do better than that!”, to prove themselves.

I think you’re going to get lots of dachshunds. That looks deceptively simple in the link.
Can we have a poem contest next time? (whinge)

Dang, having to work for a freebie, that’s a bit much, haha!
