The Brumbies have the very happy news that star front rowers Ben Alexander and Steven Moore have signed for the club until 2015:

Both players re-signed with the Australian Rugby Union and the University of Canberra Brumbies for two more years, with their current contracts set to expire at the conclusion of the 2013 Super Rugby season.

Head Coach Jake White said the contract extensions provided a clear indication that the club was heading in the right direction.

“These two players extending their contracts, says to me that we are on the right track as a club. Both Ben and Steve could have continued their careers anywhere around the world so it’s encouraging to hear that they both see Canberra as their best option,” White said.

“Together they’ve played more than 100 games for the Wallabies and almost 200 at Super Rugby level. That is a significant boost to any side’s playing roster, in terms of experience and rugby knowledge.

“While it’s exciting to see the club is on track and heading in the right direction, both these guys are aware we need to keep working hard to maintain our momentum and achieve the goals we’ve set out together for the next three years.”

Both players have settled into life in Canberra, with Moore and his wife Courtney recently celebrating the birth of their first child, Theodore. The most capped Wallabies hooker of all time (76 caps), Moore is one of three Vice-Captains among the Brumbies, highlighting his importance to the playing group.

I’d rate it (1st) Loose Head, Tight Head, Hooker, Barman, but that’s just me…

When I played it was fullback, winger, 5/8, halfback. Props and hookers were at the bottom.

Oh, wait, that was the ‘ability to pick up girls’ ranking.

Fullback? Bwahahahahahaha…. oh sorry, you were being serious….

Bwahahahahahahahaha

Mixed feelings on the barman. Everyone knows beer was invented to stop props from taking over the world.

You would be hard pressed to find better players for the third and fourth most important positions on the team.

As a former prop, I’ll bite……. Third & fourth?

My guess is the typical bias towards the halves; the malcontents who kicked the bloody ball far too much when I was a front rower.

Stephen Moore is a hooker (4th). Ben Alexander is a high quality loose head prop (3rd). I admire his enthusiasm and willingness to volunteer for the job but he just doesn’t cut it when playing in one of the top two positions (Tight Head, Reserve Tight Head).
