The ACT Parks and Conservation Service has advised residents that a rabbit control program has commenced at Pine Island Reserve.

The program will involve the use of pindone poison and aluminium phosphide warren fumigation to control the rabbit population. As such, residents are asked not to touch or interfere with poisoned carrots or caged bait stations.

Domestic animals must be kept away from these areas to avoid the risk of poisoning. If a dog or other animal starts to show symptoms of poisoning (vomiting, bloody fluid in mouth and blood in faeces), the animal should be taken to a vet immediately.

Warning signs will be posted at the entries to each control area and on baiting cages. The program will be undertaken from Monday 25 May 2015 to Tuesday 30 June 2015 at the Pine Island Reserve.
