Pirana Music opens in Mitchell

By Thumper - 29 August 2007 10

A work colleague of mine recently alerted me to the fact that Pirana Music has opened in Mitchell.

This means I don’t have to drive all the way to Woden or Fyshwick whenever I need something.

The shop is located at 2/56 Heffernan St, Mitchell.

And no, I have no invested interest in the store.

What’s Your opinion?

Yeah I went out there last year looking for a custom bridge end key for a floyd rose copy on my ESP because it has to be cut down on the shorter end of the key to fit in between the locking prt of teh bridge and the tuning knobs on the bridge.

Unfortunately they did not come to the party so I got one for free at Pro Audio 😛

All I really need now is consumables – got all the gear I need (Marshall 100W valve head, Laney 4x100W box, digital multi fx x 2 and a morley wah – oh and an ESP LTD MH1000QM (QM meaning quilted maple) )

Used to own a sky blue BC Rich Warlock but got over that about 8 years befor I sold it 🙂

Danman, I think EVERYONE who goes to Pro Audio gets a good deal; seems like 20% off is the norm 🙂

I’m thinking I might head out to Pirana now and check em out.

All that aside I contacted them with a much cheaper price on a stocked item and they were most happy to come to the party. Got back to me within the hour. Good start!

Would cost too much in rent in Civic or Belco, especially if in Canberra Centre or Westfield. Gungahlin TC would be a bteer location than Mitchell you would think. Mitchell is too “industrial” (IMO) for retail shops like this. More suited ot hardware or car parts….or porn/knock shops!

The person who opens a music store in Belconnen or Civic will probably make a mint.

Dagget – I hear ya – fyshwick or woden was always teh norm for me – though I know a staff member at Pro Audio so I get good deals when spending big – but strings and picks close to home = goodah – oh and patch leads – always get dodgy patch leads at rehersals.

Excellent!

At last 🙂 I hope this works out …. It was a pain driving to Fyshwick for picks and strings .

Not sure yet Caf but when I get out there to have a look around I’ll let people know.

Now, what can I convince myself that I need when I really don’t 🙂

I believe the owner, Keith Greig used to be a member of the 80s band The Reels.

There still seems to be some test data in their website catalog.

How do their prices compare with Better Music?
