ACT Policing Criminal Investigations Fraud Detectives executed a number of search warrants yesterday (Thursday, September 1), relating to alleged forged documents submitted to ACT Planning and Land Authority (ACTPLA).

Police received a referral in March 2011 relating to planning documents that were submitted to ACTPLA that are alleged to have been falsified to indicate the plans were approved.

Detectives executed two search warrants with a number of documents and computer files seized.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing with possible charges being laid at a later date.

You’ll also find that the reason there are now two routes from Tuggeranong Parkway to Caswell Drive is that the existing route wasn’t removed when the shiny new four lane north-south section was added.

Before you get your road workers to start designing interchanges, can you first make sure they can finish a job before having to cover it in patches?

I think you’ll find the ‘weird one on the left’ is for traffic coming up from Lady Denman drive, giving them the ability to continue north without having to cross paths with traffic exiting onto William Hovell in a very short space.

Plus, if the road workers were just making it up as they went, some of the roads would make a lot more sense.

+1 LOL!

I’m really at a loss to understand what makes Glenloch so difficult to…well…understand. It always did and still does make perfect sense to me.

easy to understand where to go, not so easy to understand why design is the way it – eg there are now three possible lanes to choose from if travelling from southside onto the GDE (2 on right, then another weird one on left later on), but only one lane from southside to the City, even though this gets just as much if not more traffic, and this will only increase with development in Molonglo etc. Worse still, the single citybound lane goes through a tiny tunnel (under GDE) that’s only wide enough for one vehicle, so that there’s no option to tack an extra lane on in future (it’s called futureproofing, RoadsACT folks; not a difficult concept to understand). Someone asked Tony Gill about this at a community meeting a few days ago. His response — ‘oh, I guess we’ll just have to rebuild Glenloch Interchange again in coming years once more traffic eventuates’. You could make this stuff up!! I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry

(PS sorry everyone for taking this off topic to start with)

Awww, let me guess…

The Developers are all to blame.

The Planners did not advise them of what to write/sumbit because they are naive little Munchkins who have received no fraud awareness, ethics, and ACT Government Values training. (OK, I give into embellishing that one. ACT Government has no values.)

No undisclosed private building works, shady personal/family/business relationships here on both sides.

Nothing to cover up.

Nothing to fear.

Maybe that’s how the ‘new and improved’ Glenloch interchange got approved too — I still can’t make sense of the logic behind all those ramps and lanes, the only rational explanation has to be lack of a pre-approved plan; maybe the road crews just made it up as they went along and then drafted pretend plans retrospectively

No, that would have been the result of a considerable amount of modelling.

Things change. You’ll adapt.

Let me guess … developers. I suspect this sort of behaviour is more common than most think, and could explain some of the inconsistent planning decisions and crazy-assed buildings and extensions around the place. Good to see the police acting on this.
