Please open our kiosks...we need kiosks!

Well, spring is here, and Floriade is here, but there is still no sign of the two kiosks at Commonwealth Place (or even one of them!) opening for business – any business!

If I am not mistaken they have been completed now for nigh on one year…and still not one espresso coffee, or herbal tea, or muffin top, has been traded over their counters.

I drove past again today on the way home from my particular salt mine in the Parliamentary Triangle, and the weather was wonderful, the crowds were out, and the flags were flapping, but those kiosks just sat there morbidly, utterly uninterested in commerce of any kind.

To make matters worse, I went into one of the toilets there recently – at least they are open I thought – only to find a complete dearth of toilet tissue (and this was at the beginning of a weekend!).

Ahh, why can’t things be better than this in our beautiful city – particularly at Commonwealth Place?

An urgent update to the kiosks saga:

When I drove past this afternoon at about 1:15 the eastern kiosk was actually open!! Unfortunately, it was storming at the time so not much business around – but at least it was open!

However, when I drove past again at 4:30 it was all shut up again – a pity, because the sun was shining and it was a lovely afternoon and people were out and about again.

And yes, the kiosks have next to nil to do with the ACT Government as they are sited on land under the control of the National Capital Authority.

…or perhaps they are secretly the air vents for the tunnels under the lake…

now ASIO will be taping your phone.

I even blame Stanhope for the state of the Murray, so the lack of the coffee shops around the lake (northern side) is small fry.

Maybe they are Brigadoon kiosks, and only appear once every hundred years. It is the Parliamentary Triangle after all.

Now, where did I put my tinfoil hat?

Have you actually had a look at those buildings? they are awfully dark and particularly uninviting. I for one am not surprised they are empty.

Commonwealth plaza would be one of the areas in Canberra where Stanhope has no responsibility – parlimaentary triangle has nothing to do with him!

So .. blame K-Rudd.. and, given it’s been a year… also blame J-Ho…

If there is no espresso, this is a serious issue for me.

Grrrrrrr!!

I blame Stanhope
