Canberra plumbers

This has been updated for August 2017

It can be very beneficial to know which plumber to call before you actually need them. You don’t want to wait any longer than you have to in case of an emergency. To help you be prepared we’ve put together a list of the top 5 plumbers in Canberra based on our readers feedback.

What Makes a Great Plumber?

Let’s clarify what we think makes a great plumber.

  • Affordability. That means no hidden costs or nasty surprises.
  • Respect. They respect your home and property, and most of all, don’t leave a mess for you to clean up!
  • Reliability. This means they show up on time and ready to work.
  • Customer service. Service should be professional, friendly, and polite.
  • Efficiency. Plumbers should be experienced workers that don’t waste your time. They get the job done, and they get it done fast.

We read through your comments, complaints, and recommendations and created this list of the five best Canberra based plumbers.

Duncan’s Plumbing Service

Duncan’s is the overwhelming favourite plumbing service among Canberra residents. The company was established in 1968. They have been providing plumbing services to Canberra and the surrounding areas since 1991. Owner, Jason Duncan, heads up the team of professional plumbers and staff. Each member contributes to the efficiency that has made them the “Best of the Best Canberra plumbers.”

Previous customers give Duncan’s a high rating for being “very reliable, professional, and honest.” Repeat customers mention that they are always very happy with the work they provide.  The company provides a long list of residential and commercial services. They also offer emergency plumbing service for those times when plumbing problems just can’t wait. Call them 24/7 for any situation that you need to have fixed now. How much would replacing the washers in an apartment cost, does anyone have a rough idea? Shower, basin, kitchen sink and laundry.

Buy a pack of ten at Bunnings, turn the water off at the main tap and do ’em yourself. A few bucks, tops.

Give Rosco a call at Flow Plumbing. Good honest hardworking guy. He was also the ACT Apprentice of the year a few years ago. I have used him for a few jobs around the house and I haven’t had a problem with them. I recommended him to my boss who also was very happy with his work.

Duncans for me too.

Though do have one question, when people talk of a leaky shower they are normally referring to a break down in the waterproofing rather than the plumbing. This kind of leak is not normally fixed by a plumber. So we can help what exactly is your issue? Where is the ‘leak’?

We don’t know. The area leading from the ensuite shower to the bedroom is damp and the bedroom carpet is now damaged. So, something is leaking and I have no idea if it’s the plumbing or the seal. I assumed that a plumber would be my first port of call. Any advice will be appreciate as I am quite clueless.

Duncan’s are good, I’d recommend them.

Ah memories. I remember in the late 1980s calling a plumber to come around to fix a washer, a young dude. He did it in a couple of minutes and I thought I’d try my chances. I offered him an extra $50.00 to pose for some photos. I got him down to his jocks, he wouldn’t go any further although he had a boner.

A few years later I phoned the same plumber and an old guy turned up. I asked about the young guy and he said that that was his son who he gave an apprenticeship to. His son was now living on the Gold Coast, operating his own plumbing business and doing very nicely, thank you.

I was upset he didn’t become an underwear model 😉

Why do you only post when you have something smutty to discuss? Did you put the word on the old man tho?

I recently used Priority Plumbing for major work. They were excellent; turned up on time, kept in contact, fixed everything in 1 day .. though because they did excavate our yard there was no ‘cleaning up’ so to speak.

I feel your pain though. I got so fed up with trying plumbers in the area, I literally went through a list I found on the internet .. most of them don’t answer and don’t call back.

And don’t even get me started on that mob called ‘the tap doctor’.

I had great work done on emergency installation of a new hot water system by 6-Star plumbing. Probably not the cheapest, but excellent and friendly work in my experience. 61619417 or 0448 844 911
