Canberra’s Best Plumbers

146
O&B Plumber

O’Neill & Brown Plumbing Service are rated one of Canberra’s best plumbers.

Whether you need to fix a dripping tap, install a toilet or unblock a pipe, there’s only one person you should call: a licensed plumber.

A licensed plumber is trained to install and maintain pipes in homes and other types of buildings. When the hot water system stops working or waste ends up where it shouldn’t be, you need a plumber – and fast.

Remember to avoid the temptation to resolve a plumbing issue on your own. Not only can this be dangerous, but it may lead to difficulties making an insurance claim if your work causes additional damage.

What makes a great plumber?

Good plumbers have the skills and experience to fix blocked pipes, re-plumb a house, and do everything in-between. But there’s more to being a great plumber than just technical abilities. Soft skills matter too.

Keep the following in mind before choosing a plumber.

  • Reliable and respectful of your property. A plumber should arrive on time and ready to work. The best treat customers’ homes like their own – this means keeping mess and disruption to a minimum while being careful with your belongings.
  • Effective communication. You shouldn’t need a plumbing qualification to understand what your plumber is talking about. A great plumber is willing to discuss the job at a level you can understand.
  • Transparent pricing. Your plumber should be upfront with you about how much things will cost. Quotes and invoices should be transparent, with no unexpected fees or charges.
  • Quality parts and products. While using cheaper parts will save money in the short term, they generally don’t last as long and will need to be replaced sooner. For longevity and real value for money, look for a plumber that uses the best part or product for the job – not the one that costs the least.
  • Appropriate licences and insurances. In the ACT, all plumbers need to be licensed and meet eligibility requirements (such as having completed a relevant qualification). Double check that your chosen plumber is licensed and has current public and products liability insurance to protect you if work doesn’t go to plan.

Thanks to the review on this site I found Andrew McReynolds Plumbing. I had a blocked drain and Andrew was able to assist me in a timely and professional manner. Andrew has great customer skills, is willing to assist and his rates are very reasonable. I can highly recommend him.

I am rapt that I found Andrew McReynolds Plumbing. I had tree roots in a pipe and read the reviews here but couldn’t tell which ones were legit. Believe me when I say that Andrew was a godsend. He was skilled and good natured and very reasonably priced for what was a murky and time consuming job. I highly recommend him. And that’s legit.

Avoid at all costs the following, they are all the basically same company:
Canberra Blocked Drain Services
Canberra Emergency Hot Water Solutions
Canberra Hot Water Systems and Repairs
Canberra Solar Hot Water Solutions
P1 Plumbing and Electrical Services
Priority One Plumbing and Electrical Services
North Canberra Plumbing
Roof Plumbing Canberra
Sam’s Local Plumbing
Tuggeranong Plumbing
Your Local Plumber ACT

Smart website, call centre, and charged me over $13k for work which they said would take over a week, and ended up taking barely three days with downtime. Manager got threatening and aggressive when I questioned the bill. Awful.

    Ruth Conell 7:34 am 04 Oct 19

But I have used Sam’s Local Plumbing and Canberra Blocked Drains. I didn’t feel like they were same company. They had different people.

    roberts 9:38 pm 16 Oct 19

Yep avoid Tuggeranong Plumbing at any cost.

Bella Manton 12:53 pm 12 Sep 19

We moved into our new home and discovered that the sink was not draining properly and was making noise during day and night. I used to call Sam’s Local Plumbing when any issue comes up in my previous home. So this time too I called them. Work completed on time, no complaints and fair price. Would recommend and use them again.

Angie Brein 11:58 am 10 Sep 19

I would recommend Canberra Blocked Drain Services as they have helped us a couple of times in our plumbing issues. Last time I got $50 discount for continuously using their services. Now they know us very well hence would always call them if any plumbing problem comes up.

I have been looking for a 24 hour plumbing company for a long time who is reliable and trustworthy. Found Tuggeranong Plumbing a good one in terms of work and money. They did a great job and the price was 50 percent less than the quotes which I got from another two plumbers. Would recommend them.

Diane Fortescue 6:31 pm 13 Jul 19

Had Tuggeranong Plumbing come and do a quote to replace an inlet valve, cost of a new inlet valve $15-$30 at the most. Half an hour job if that, cost $412 plus gst. Have another plumber coming tomorrow for the same job quarter of the price. Would not recommend this company, maybe they just didn’t want the job. But he could of done it there and then easy money. feel really ripped off still paid the call out fee of $49 plus gst.

    Lily Rimanic 12:25 pm 18 Jul 19

Hi Diane … I also have plumbing issues and am wondering how you went with that second plumber? And would you mind sharing his name / contact please?

Garry James 1:43 pm 12 Jul 19

I had long lost the number of my old plumber and didn’t have any idea whom to call. I tried one company for installing my gas line, but failed to do the job and asked them for a refund. Then one of my friends recommended Tuggeranong Plumbing. I was worried about the job from past three days and they fixed the issue within one day. Now it is me recommending them to my friends.

Amanda Sky 11:40 am 02 Jul 19

Oliver from Sam’s Local Plumbing was very efficient and tidy in his work. He was very friendly, and was happy to explains in details every steps he undertakes and the associated costs. The prices was fairly affordable.
Would definitely recommend Sam’s’ Local Plumbing.

Alan Nestor 8:05 am 17 Apr 19

P1 Plumbing and Electrical Services are the best among plumbing companies in my locality. The plumber was quick, efficient and informative. So easy to work with as he communicates clearly what the problem is and discusses solutions with me. I am happy to recommend them.

+1 for Running Plumbing. Damien is excellent – professional, trustworthy, reasonable and quick. Definitely should be in the best plumber lists 🙂

Rocan 8:21 am 22 Jan 19

Absolutely appalled by Priority One. We lost hot water, called them out, and were quoted $1100 for a fix that may not last long in their words, or $4500 to replace the whole system. Time for another quote, Spencer and Sons came out, replaced the thermostat for $200, job done. Priority One are charlatans, stay clear.

crimsonswallow 4:23 am 06 Oct 18

Priority One Plumbing gave me a quote which would have come to around $600/hour + parts, for a three small jobs, one (maybe two) which I could have done myself if I had tools, but thought I might as well get professionally done, since I needed a plumber anyway. I paid the $50 quote fee and told him to go away, since how is that in anyway a reasonable rate? And also I’m not paying a guy over $1,300, over a week’s pay for me, for 2 hours work. Next time I’ll try to get hourly rate quotes.

For an idea, changing out washers was quoted as over $300 though it’s a 15 minute job and $1 worth of materials. If it was the only thing I asked for, maybe I could have stomached it as otherwise not being worth it to them for a call out, but not when there Is also another 30 minute job (which I’m being generous with time here) and the real issue, which could take an hour and I would have been more willing to pay for.

Cali Lane 9:53 am 19 Sep 18

I used Priority One Plumbing to solve my drainage problems that I was having as a result of excess rainfall. The plumber began his work on time and as always clean and friendly.I would highly recommend this company to anyone who needs plumbing service.

robyn1 6:49 pm 28 Aug 18

We Just used Duncan’s Plumbing to repair a disconnected sewage pipe. They were prompt, communicative, efficient, friendly and did a beautiful job. Their invoice was the most comprehensive I’ve ever seen, describing and itemising the work in detail. I’ll be employing them again within a month for more work that we need doing. Fantastic job

Area Brownstein 5:42 am 05 Jul 18

Check out the guys from “Emergency Plumbers Canberra” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JoymXMf8n-k
They answered promptly arrived quickly and took a reasonable price.

Lina Nixon 12:55 pm 29 Jun 18

Priority One Plumbing were professional and provided a smooth service. I called them for an urgent fixing of my hot water system. They showed up within a short period of time and fixed it. Very competitive price. I would recommend them highly to all. Great work!

John Abraham 9:56 am 06 Jun 18

I am happy with the work done by priority one plumbing service as I had a blocked drain pipe in my bathroom and they fixed the problem with nonintimidating mind. They are truly awesome , friendly and competent. They fixed the problem with minimum of a fuss. They kept me informed about the problem and also updated me with the work they have done. Definitely I would recommend them to my friends and family.

mallie17 8:33 pm 15 Apr 18

Running Plumbing (Damian Peacock) is the plumber with the mostest. He responded quickly,
and was very honest and reliable. The price was right, and he made sure the problem was fixed before we paid. Can’t recommend him highly enough.
