Territory and Municipal Services are letting it be known they’re putting on free buses from Civic and Woden to Manuka and back for all those celebrating my 40th Birthday on Tuesday.

Enjoy.

Streaker or some bloke running around in his Speedos?

He divested himself of those later, more’s the pity. He was a total anus.

We had a group of 10 or so yahoos sitting in front of us at the game yesterday. But they were pretty good value and provided a plenty of harmless laughs for those nearby.

As did I.

I have two tickets I cannot use for the Windies vs Aus match at Manuka, does anyone know if TIcketek will do me a refund?

If not, anyone interested in them?

I went to the PM’s XI a few years ago, and was pretty disgusted by alcohol-fuelled behaviour in the young male members of the crowd. I recall witnessing frequent, public, sexual harassment of women walking along the concourse, and humiliating comments directed at some young unaccompanied boys. No one, myself included, seemed to feel able to stand up to the mob.

S’funny. I’ve been to every PM’s XI and major cricket match played at Manuka since I moved here 11 years ago, and I’ve never seen an instance of what you claim. The worse thing I’ve seen was that streaker, god, he had a revolting flabby body.

Maybe you saw that, as you are the sort of person who goes looking for examples of that sort of thing? If you look really hard I bet you could find some racism, and some gay inequality, and some animal cruelty, and some age discrimination etc etc ad nauseum.

Maybe we don’t have enough big sporting events in Canberra for the (especially young) drinking population to learn how to behave when they’re out. Very different to my experiences at similar events in Melbourne and Sydney. Any other reflections?

I think the government and Manuka Oval management should put a real effort into encouraging moderate drinking and enforcing some minimum standards of behaviour at this kind of marquee event, as well as putting on buses for drinkers. Maybe some a campaign featuring sportspeople, encouraging responsible drinking and respectful behaviour in that context?

That comment is un-Australian.

So, they are putting on free buses for people within walking distance, but making everyone in Tuggers, Belco and Gunners pay to get there??? Typical Gov looking after their own but forgetting the rest of us.

Seriously – that guy videos a beer snake of that size? Take a good hard look at yourself son.
Time was when we would throw back the ones of that size.

Don’t forget to wear blue on the day to support young blokes (and official charity Menslink) in our region. http://www.menslink.org.au

We’ll also be giving out free thunder-sticks to the crowd and information cards highlighting young men’s issues such as the high suicide rate (more young men die by suicide than on the roads) and how Menslink helps through our free counselling and mentoring programs.

Oh, and we’ll be asking for your help by making a donation 🙂

Thinking a white Coopers cap and no other firm plans.

Easily identified in next weeks RiotACT article as “The Nude Guy (except for the cap)”

Stand back ladies, the pics will be interesting

Enjoy the special large birthday candles they lit for you. They got the number wrong though.

Just slightly.

JB, will you be wearing something distinguishing, so as we can pick you out and treat you to a beer?

Thinking a white Coopers cap and no other firm plans.

I hope they’re making sure the lights are working by leaving them on all night, every night until next week at least.

I wonder if they can sync the lights to flash in time with the test songs they will have to play over the loudspeakers to make sure the sound system works (although I will shed no tears if the sound system breaks down)

You know you’ve made it when ………
