The Comrade put out his media release last week on “Poetry in ACTION” with poems from 6 Canberra artists being put up on the buses for all the bus commuters to see.

So has anyone seen them, do you feel culturally enlivened for doing so, did you like them?

I have seen the ones from last year, and wasn’t particularly impressed by any of them. But then again, I don’t catch buses to be moved to tears.

Dressing up the buses rather than improving services seems a bit like polishing brass on the Titanic, to me…

But I do like the “makes riding public transport a more enriching and pleasurable experience,” Mr Stanhope said. comment, from the Man in Charge who seems keen to make sure the buses are filled to the ceilings, only come once every 90 mins, then break down routinely.

I caught one the other evening at 2020hrs that broke down at Hindmarsh & Melrose, and was told we’d have to wait until 2120hrs for the next bus serving the area.
Poetry was not enough to lift my spirits or ease the chill.

I did read one, and it was diverting for about 5 minutes, but it made no lasting impression on me
