The ABC has a report on the rivers of gaming revenue sustaining the Labor Party’s operations in the ACT as it makes laws to govern it’s generous Labor Club benefactors:

The ACT branch of the Australian Labor Party received close to $1 million worth of funding and donations last financial year.

Financial returns published by the ACT Electoral Commission show more than $662,000 of that money came from the Canberra Labor Club.

The ALP spent more than $780,000 over the year.

The ACT division of the Liberal Party received nearly $658,000 in funding and donations and spent $405,000 over the year.

Its biggest donor was Canberra external consultancy ADVISE, which gave a gift in kind of $170,000.

The Liberals’ second biggest funding boost was $123,000 from the security consultancy firm Stratsec.

The stratsec contribution is office rent rather than political donation – still gets reported as donation though for some reason.

Maybe the pokies should come with a health warning

“The Labor party would like to thank you for your gambling losses”

Hmm, website produced in microsoft office and they have money left over to donate…..must be juicy govt contract they have.

Not to mention Clubs ACT only giving money to the ALP…

“The ABC has a report on the rivers of gambling revenue…”

I fixed that for you.

Let’s not fall for the gambling industry’s ploy of calling gambling “gaming” – they’re not the same thing.

The extra money is having a good effect on the Belconnen club. The prawns and oysters at last year’s Christmas lunch were a vast improvement over the previous year. Yum yum 🙂
