ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a car that was stolen from a burglary last week.

A black coloured 2006 Toyota Kluger was stolen from a home in Ngunnawal between 10 pm Tuesday, November 8, and 4 am Wednesday, November 9.

The car may be using NSW registration plate AJ65SL (black on yellow) or ACT registration plate (blue on white) YHB02E.

Members of the pubic are urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via act.crimestoppers.com.au if they know the whereabouts of this car. Information can be provided anonymously.

They may be blissfully unaware of grammar, but at lkeast they can spell, unlike the emergency services with their “resadents”.

I’d be checking your own spelling before commenting on the mistakes of others Henry 😉

I am happy to divulge that not a red cent of your rates went into paying me to inflict erratic typography on people. ?

Your use of the word ‘typography’ is wrong.

Again, your rates were not used to fund any torturing of the english language by me, unlike the incompetent bogans who were overpaid to inflict “resadents” and a load of other rubbish on us.

FFS people, same old story-when there is no constructive comments about the topic, you start to discuss grammar issues

Although I could pick apart your sentence… The issue is that someone is paid to produce statements, and they should have a ‘reasonable’ understanding of spelling and grammar.

Oh, don’t forget to put in a space after punctuation.

Holden – YOU are awesome! 😀

Correcting grammar can be a hobby.

Omg!!! Are you serious Henry? Get off your high horse buddy. Are you an English teacher?
I am happy to divulge that not a red cent of your rates went into paying me to inflict erratic typography on people. Unlike the idiots that gave us “resadents” and the rest of it. You’d think they could take just a bit of time off from sliding down poles and driving taxis to learn to spell, wouldn’t you?

I suppose they can spell, but I am not too sure members of the pubic will be contacting Crime Stoppers

“ACT Policing is seeking the public’s assistance “… But why? I don’t get it. Has someone stolen the car of a stealer? Karma?

Just because you don’t understand or know why police use particular terminology doesn’t make it incorrect.

I would argue that the “correctness” of the terminology is dependent on the context. In this case the context in a media release for the general public. So if the police use anything but plain language they are incorrect.

Not that it isn’t pretty clear to me.

Well is it black or isn’t it?

It is still wrong. The preposition should be ‘during’ not ‘from’.

How do you know it was stolen ‘during’ the burglary from the media release? If the vehicle was parked in the driveway or on the street then it wasn’t during the burglary but after. As soon as they leave the house the burglary has ceased.

‘Stolen from a burglary’?

Burglary is the act of entering or remaining in a premises with intent to commit theft or several other offences. If anything is stolen then there is also theft.
