Ace Ventura should get a call after they find half joint on the floor and nothing more.

We’ve eaten there once, I thought it was a bit weird too, and haven’t been back. Halfway through our meal, my husband, baby daughter and myself (sitting at a table for 4) suddenly had another couple seated next to us, with us, at the same table (literally bumping elbows) – even though there were many other tables free. We hurredly finished our food and left, it was very odd.

There are a lot of bars run honestly. But there are a lot of businesses in this town which one wonders about.

Well the big nightclubs – Academy, Mooseheads, ect are probably run fairly honestly, the questionable level of adherence to responsible service of alcohol aside. It’s obvious how they’re turning a profit.

“Counter Terrorism Team” WTF?

Nice of you to skip straight past the “Organised Crime and” part of the name.

To be fair, it could easily be misconstrued as refering to two separate teams.

As explained here http://the-riotact.com/police-statement-on-the-london-raid/57708, they have quietly removed the references to who actually attended!

Are there any restaurants, clubs and bars in Canberra that are NOT owned and run by [alleged] drug dealers?

+1, Amen to that

There was always something a bit odd about the high number of security camera’s in the London…

Bet the police find the tapes useful. Or blank.

sounds like the police have already drawn a big blank, high vis daytime raid, tip off the Canberra times.

No-one charged and a couple of computers seized, somebody has egg on their face.

We are a small enough town that the people that deal with organised crime, and the people who counter terrorism, are the same people. So if someone if raided as part of an organised crime investigation, it is done by the Organised Crime and Counter Terrorism Team.

The London’s burger challenge – two London Lots, two serves of chips and a litre of beer.

Or the Asian Langolier?

Are there any restaurants, clubs and bars in Canberra that are NOT owned and run by [alleged] drug dealers?

I have yet to take the 2 burgers and a jug of beer challenge….!!

And how the hell did a tiny Asian girl get up on the winners’ board???
(I would have liked to have been there to witness it)

i coud be mistaken – but i was pretty sure the person who holds/ or at one time held the record for most hotdogs eaten in one sitting was a tiny korean woman. – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sonya_Thomas

turns out she is korean/american – but still..

The Big Texan steakhouse outside Amarillo Texas has a 72 ounce steak challenge. That’s about a 2 kg lump of roast meat that has to be eaten in an hour, along with a huge spud and a salad. If you can eat it all it’s free. They record the age, height and weight and time of their winners, and I had a look through the book once. If the book is to be believed, there are quite a few females in the 5 foot tall, hundred pound range who’ve met the challenge with ease.

Don’t underestimate the eating capacity of a hungry woman.

Ha, shutting the place down on pay day Thursday right before lunch is probably completely coincidental, but would have cost them a fair bit I’m sure.

Went there for lunch a few times, but always found there was a weird vibe in the place, like we were one of the only ones there who didn’t know the people running it. I guess seeing as we were there to actually buy a burger and beers with no extra sides, that may have actually been the case!

Then there’s the time we sat at an empty table that half way through our meal suddenly became reserved, forcing us to move outside…real classy.

In the end, it was their shite burgers that made us give up on the place though. I was always a bit suss of a place where your food would turn up 5 minutes after ordering even in busy times…pretty sure a freshly made burger should take a bit longer than that.

And yes…I realise I’m actually complaining about a restaurant’s service being too fast!

The crimes is being unusually up-to-the-minute on this story…

Can only presume one of their scribes was buying a burger at the time. All other possible explanations are inexplicable.

Or maybe they were wasting work time reading twitter and RA and just got lucky…

Oh man I hope the London doesn’t shut down, I love that place the burgers are tops. I did get a funny feeling about the place the other night when the food and drinks were being served by biker felon lookin’ kinda dudes though.

From Twitter:

“@CPOACT Roman
ACTPol still in the process of executing a DODA search warrant @ The London. More info once search complete. Window not smashed by police.”

Anyone else getting “Los Pollos Hermanos” vibes?

Season 4 has the best finale EVER. Bad Ass!!

Well i stopped going there, when apparently you needed a booking to have a burger and a beer WTF…
The first couple of time no problems but the last 3 times I tried and was told sorry no seats they are all reserved.

The state of disrepair of the building is criminal?

Pretty much my first thought, too. This is a prominent, symbolic Canberra building. And it looks like shite.

kevn said :

I was, perhaps it is all related to a house in a suburb that got burnt but can no longer be spoken about…

Los Pollos Hermanos – 110%

Anyone else getting “Los Pollos Hermanos” vibes?

I think you may find that The London was taking part in some extra “business” on the side… from what ive heard down the line.

Not sure if there is much truth to it, but that hasnt stopped people on here before!

mattapalooza1:11 pm 27 Oct 11

Might possibly have something to do with the owners and their bikes…

The newest “Occupy London Beers and Burgers”

Finally something I can agree with!

Until Maccas starts selling the McIce I don’t think their target markets will overlap too much.

The state of disrepair of the building is criminal?

Ham-burglar?

Maybe a burger protest that a new McDonalds is opening 100m away in the bus interchange in the old Dick Smith shopfront..
