Police commotion on Belconnen Way

Does anyone have any idea what was happening on Belconnen Way (heading towards Belconnen – just before the Macarthur Avenue intersection) this afternoon? I drove through there at about 6.30 and there were two cars stopped in the left hand land with a police barricade of around 4-5 cars around them, and an ambulance in attendance. There were no visible signs of a car accident and shortly after we got through the hold up, two police cars drove past with lights and sirens on. There seemed only to be one girl sitting underneath a tree on the side of the road with someone comforting her.

I’m not trying to be nosy – I just found it quite strange that the police blocked off such a large portion of road at such a busy time of day and didn’t attempt to move the intact cars out of the left hand lane. Very peculiar!

Bad trip?

It was to do with a person who had walked out into the traffic and in front of a car, the police were in the middle of investigating the scene and taking statements.

Would it have had something to do with the Kangaroo Cull protests? (Just a guess, I’ve been away for a week).

Maybe a cyclist was hit and Police needed to do measurements at the accident scene before the cars were moved?

Not trying to nosy? You’ve made me intrigued (and nosy)
