Simon Corbell has announced that somewhere in Canberra’s North the black pyjama brigade of the Specialist Response and Security team have a new 2,700 square metre complex at a secret location.

“The building has undergone a custom re-fit which will allow members to conduct training exercises, and has enough space to store a range of specialist equipment. For the first time Specialist Response and Security officers have a purpose-fit building to match their capabilities, accommodating tactical response, police negotiators, canine, training and support teams,” Mr Corbell said.

Do they get into it from a telephone booth?

Oh – wait – there aren’t any of those any more.

There’s one in Captains Flat and another in Jerangle.

Yesterday I drive to Kingleys on my lunch break. On the drive I noted the WIN news minivan following me impatiently, which followed me into the car park behind Kingsleys. A couple of policy officers meet the news crew and wondered into the new looking building which I think was an old club – yep, this is it http://www.realcommercial.com.au/property-offices-act-belconnen-5579226

After picking up my lunch I parked in the car park on Josephson street eating away when I heard very loud cracking noises which sounded like automatic gun fire (which I’ve heard before). A little concerned, and laying a little lower in the car than usual, I notice a lot of people come out of the buildings in the surrounding streets come out for a look at what was going on. I little smoke started to raise from the complexes enclosed carpark, but the usual flow of cars and people walking next to the building resumed. On my way out of the carpark I decided to drive past the building and noticed a “Police Operation” or “Police Operation in Progress” (dont remember which) out front for all to see.

Last night while watching the news I saw the bulletin and the cracking noise was the same. Yep, thats the place, and had a little chuckle when they said they couldnt reveal its location.

I love the police, but surely even they understand that if you want something to remain secret, you shouldn’t draw attention to it. But as others have said, I guess the cheap political point scoring compromised that objective.

Punters at the Belconnen Lakeview Club are now feeling very secure

“Lake view” very optimistic name

The pics are just to send you off track. Those in the know can tell you that the new base is set in deep cavern beneath Mt Ainslie and the only way on/out is through a little known waterfall on the airport side of the mountain. (Either that or I’ve been watching too many 1960’s superhero TV shows)

Guys I don’t think it’s location is meant to be a true “secret”, the Canberra times has photos of it up on their website and you can see other business in the background, pretty easy (with the assistance of Google) to work out where it is.

If it is meant to be a secret, someone has messed up.

Ah, but what if this is disinformation?

Maybe the new super secret cop shop is located under the chess pit in Garema Place?

LOL, so they are really surveillance emo’s?

Emo1 to Emo 2 over?
Emo1 this is Emo2: loud and clear over.
Emo2 this is Emo1: what is the sitrep at the moment over?

Close Thumper – its in the old Impact Records store, now linked to the old Gypsy Bar via a small hand dug tunnel.

It’s not that secret. Everyone knows it’s in the old UN base beneath Lawson.

Co-located with the reptoids?

Shhhh, its a secret!

If there is one thing I know from watching TV, the new base will be in a big old warehouse, with lots of space to park their cool cars, and some funky touch screens to view the real time satellite surveillance on. They will drive their cool cars in and out of an unmarked roller door, which no one will notice…

One of those places on Majura Road? Everyone’s going to be avidly trying to find it now.

And it is absolutely nowhere near the motorcycle school!

Why did they cut down all the trees next to the road?

Agree. Some things should not even be announced, but politicians find it hard not to stand on a soapbox.

Common sense would suggest that it should have been kept “SECRET”
A “NEW” 2,700 square metre complex in “NORTH CANBERRA” will be
hard to find.-“NOT”. You should think before you announce things Simon!
