Nothing on the AFP media releases website. I heard on the wireless late on the day it happened that next-of-kin had yet to be contacted … you’d reckon they would’ve leapt that hurdle by now.

Straight road, good visibility, middle of the day … I’m telling my kids the Subi driver was playing with his phone instead of concentrating on driving (which isn’t even a stretch of the imagination). Correct or not, it will hopefully illustrate to them the dangers.
In the previous fatal I recall on that road (up at the Federal Hwy intersection) this was shown to be the case. And I’ve gotten sick of avoiding two-tonne pinballs on the road with drivers’ faces fixed on their phones.

It isn’t the first time someone has driven head on, at high speed, into a heavy truck travelling in the opposite direction on this same stretch of road.

Does anyone know what actually happened to cause this accident?
