Police investigating shooting in Chisholm

Lachlan Roberts 10 April 2019 6

Police are investigating possible links between bikie gangs and a shooting incident in Canberra’s south overnight.

Around 12:40 am on Wednesday (10 April), police received reports of a number of shots fired in the vicinity of McLorinian Street, followed by the sound of a car leaving the area.

ACT Policing attended and established a crime scene, which was inspected by AFP Forensic Services. One 9mm shell casing was found at the scene.

An ACT Policing spokesperson said no one was injured in the incident, and a number of witnesses are assisting police with their enquiries.

Police are looking into any possible links between this incident and outlaw motorcycle gangs and are expected to remain on scene throughout the day.

Police are urging anyone who saw any suspicious activity in Chisholm around 12 am-1 am this morning, or who may have any CCTV, dash-cam footage or information that could assist police, to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.

Not proposing more gun laws this time? There’s a surprise.

Why does the public assume its club related everytime there is a shooting? Plenty of people have guns and with the ice prpblems im surprised there are not more shootings. With the ACT being one of the only place with no consorting laws do you really think the bike clubs are running around the streets playing shoot ups and bringing unnecessary heat and attention to themselves? The ACT police and media are very good at pointing the finger and making people think that groups of blokes who enjoy riding bikes are responsible for every bit of crime committed in the region.

Blokes who enjoy riding bikes, cooking meth and ice, trafficking drugs, running protection rackets and extortion etc etc etc. So unfair they are being blamed this early on, considering every one of these shootings recently has been directly linked to the various clubs and their turf war.

Blokes who like to ride bikes. You’ll go blind if you keep that up.

I don’t know why they are “investigating” as this type of thing is becoming the norm in Canberra and as long as the feud between the gangs stays tribal the rest of the population (especially the police) will have nothing to worry about.

I heard from a reliable source last week that a Canberra citizen was arriving home during the day and discovered a neighbour’s house being burgled. The police were immediately phoned and they did turn indeed up, albeit two days later.

Kambah, Theodore now Chisholm. One by one our suburbs are falling victims of bikie crime while the authorities doze off in their slumber, do not do anything and let the bush capital transform into bikie capital. Wonder who will wish to buy home in these suburbs. No wonder Tuggeranong is failing and population is decreasing as people leave for Gungahlin.

Time for the Police Minister to come out again and tell us what a great job he is doing to manage Motorcycle gang related crime.

How many shootings in Tuggeranong have to happen before the Government admits that we have a problem?
