ACT Policing has arrested a young person following a number of incidents relating to a young man groping and exposing himself to women in the north side of Canberra.

About 5.20pm yesterday evening (Monday 28 April), a girl was out walking her dog in Evatt when she was approached by a male who pulled his pants down and exposed himself to her. The male has attempted to reach out to the girl without success, before she has screamed and fled the area.

Police attended the scene and acting upon information received, police obtained and executed a search warrant on a home in Canberra’s north.

A young male was subsequently arrested and charged with committing an act of indecency.

He will face the ACT Children’s Court this morning and police will oppose bail.

Police believe the incident to be linked to four similar incidents across the weekend (April 26-27).

Investigations are ongoing.

Wow! A great use of police resources investigating this. Not. I was at Kambah Pool stark naked yesterday while all this was going on. Anybody – including young girls – could have come down and seen me and the others who were there enjoying the warm weather. I certainly hope the court throws out these charges and sends a clear message to police to stop wasting money and resources with nonsense. There are four cities and counties in the US which do not have indecent exposure laws. We should do the same and throw ours out but I know it will never happen.

Yes of course it’s perfectly reasonable behaviour for a 17 year old male to expose himself to a 13 year old girl walking her dog and then attempt to grope her. You’ve really got some serious issues.

There are also plenty of cities and counties in the US which do not have strong gun control laws, and we all know how that’s going for them…

Kambah Pool is a long recognised nudist bathing area. No problems with that. What you’re suggesting, by removing indecent exposure laws, is that I should be allowed to wander down Garema Place waving my junk around with no consequences?? Jeez…and I thought the chuggers around there were the most annoying part of heading into town for lunch!

Yes, that’s exactly what the reprobate was suggesting. Like I said, hopefully the police will have a bit of a watching brief on him from now on.

Should we start locking up all those ugly looking people who wear leggings as pants too. It causes offense to some.
What about if someone wore budgie smugglers to the mall.

Obliviously the guy is a nut, but offense shouldn’t be based on beauty or gender.

I hope the penal system is quite hard on him.

I hope the penal system, or whatever system he ends up in, gets him the help he so obviously needs. At some stage, something has to have gone very wrong in this young man’s life to cause behaviour like this.

If you can’t tell the difference between naturists bathing at an area where this sort of behaviour is expected, and perverts deliberately flashing themselves to women in parks then I really do think you should be locked up for the good of society.

Hopefully the police have you logged.

Good work – I bet the poor girl was terrified, being grabbed at by a nutter with no pants.

When will you be there again and do you have a bag of lollies?
