ACT Policing is seeking witnesses following the report of an attempted abduction of a 20-year-old woman in Forde last Thursday (May, 29).

About 5.30pm, the woman returned to her parked car on Zakharov Avenue, Forde. While she was unlocking her car, a dark coloured van approached and stopped next to her vehicle. While the driver remained in the van, a man exited the side door of the van and took the woman by the arm. The women resisted the man, who then let go of her arm, returned to the van and fled the area.

The male was described as being Caucasian in appearance with very pale skin, clean shaven and approximately 5”9 to 5”10 (175cm to 178cm) tall. The male was wearing a black hooded jumper, dark glasses with a white pin stripe pattern on the side, and black ski gloves. The driver of the van was described as male and wearing a light blue T-shirt.

The van was described as being a new model, similar to a postal or courier van, dull matt black in colour with no registration plates displayed.

Police have conducted a door-knock of the surrounding area and sought CCTV from nearby businesses.
Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.
