Queanbeyan police were busy controlling parties at the weekend, which got out of hand thanks unexpected gate-crashers.

One party was broken up in Jerrabombera on Friday night, peaking at 200 guests, many uninvited. The party is believed to have been the work of a 16 year-old using Facebook to promote the bash.

Another party was broken up in Queanbeyan on Saturday night after a group of 40 partygoers, many uninvited, got out of control.

Both were broken up prior to midnight with a few arrests and minor property damage.

Police are now warning against advertising parties on social media.

Perhaps those stupid enough to advertise their party on Facebook and then have to call police to control the mob should have to pay something towards the cost of police attendance.

Only an idiot would advertise a private party over social media. They are asking for trouble and deserve all they get

What there really needs to be is the party hosts need the ability to request police come in and remove gate crashers without fear of the police closing down the party full stop.

The police are generally the last resort. The party is over.

Hire security next time, or don’t have friends. Works for me 😉

.

Yes, that’s a fantastic use of Police resources. Why hasn’t anyone thought of that earlier?

If only there were some kind of security personnel or bouncers that could be hired for private functions.

I’ve been to several parties where there have been gate crashers, and unfortunately my 18th was gate crashed. Of course non of my actual friends caused any problems (why would they, they are my mates), it was the d*ckheads who came along uninvited who I’d never remotely call friends who caused the problems.
