1. Liquor store standover arrest:
- ACT Policing yesterday (June 11) arrested a young male person after a search warrant executed on a North Canberra residence yesterday.
Detectives from the Belconnen team of the Territory Investigations Group had been investigating an incident at the Woolworths Liquor Store on Saturday, May 16, in which a group of three males of Pacific Islander appearance had entered the Woolworths Liquor Store in Belconnen.
In the incident which followed, the cashier was threatened and cut on the arm, back and neck with a broken bottle. Items from the store were also stolen.
On May 22, a 17-year-old male was arrested and charged in relation to the incident. He will appear in court again on June 16. A vehicle and items of forensic evidence have been seized by police.
Police will allege that the 17-year-old New Zealand citizen arrested yesterday was the main offender in the incident and he will appear before the ACT Childrens Court today charged with Aggravated Robbery and Intentionally Inflict Grievous Bodily Harm.
Police investigations into the matter are continuing with further charges pending.
