1. Not paying attention:

Despite the high profile presence and policing activity in relation to Operation Unite over the weekend, a 20-year-old provisional licence driver from Dickson was apprehended seven times over the limit on a major city thoroughfare.

Around 5.15am yesterday (Sunday September 12) police were conducting mobile patrol on Northbourne Avenue in the City when they observed a white Hyundai Excel driving north. Police stopped the vehicle and performed a roadside screening test on the male driver.

The driver returned a positive result and was conveyed to City Police Station where he returned a breathalyser reading of 0.150 grams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood. As the driver holds a provisional licence he is subject to Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of 0.02 which makes his reading over seven times the legal limit.

He has been summonsed to appear in the ACT Magistrates Court at a later date.

2. Of course they were driving an Excel:

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to two burglaries at Hawker shops early this morning (September 13).

Around 12.10am today police responded to a report of an aggravated burglary at the Hawker shops. Upon arrival they found entry had been forced to a hairdressers and a restaurant.

Four men in a silver Hyundai Excel were seen to enter the car park and break into the hairdressers.

The offenders forced entry by using a cement and metal wheelie bin to smash the front window of each shop. Cash and alcohol were stolen from the premises.

Anyone who may seen the silver Hyundai near the Hawker shops and the four men acting suspiciously at the time of the incident is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers website on www.act.crimestoppers.com.au. Information can be provided anonymously.

3. What do we call Thuggies in Weston Creek?

ACT Policing is seeking witnesses to an aggravated robbery which occurred in Weston last night (Sunday, September 12).

About 9.45pm, two males, one aged 18 and the other 19, were walking along Streeton Drive when they were approached by two unknown offenders. Both victims were verbally threatened and a knife was produced by one of the offenders, before the 19-year-old male victim was pushed to the ground, and forced to hand over his backpack.

The offenders stole the two victims’ mobile phones and some cash, and fled the scene on foot in the direction of the Weston Creek tennis courts.

The first male offender is described as Caucasian, aged in his early twenties, about 178 cm (5’10”) tall with a medium build, short dark-blond hair and a “rats-tail” hairstyle. He was wearing a fitted light-grey T-shirt and black cargo pants at the time of the offence.

The second offender is described as Caucasian, aged in his early twenties, about 193 cm (6’3”) tall, with a medium build and was wearing a light-grey coloured hooded jumper and black cargo pants.

Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or saw two males matching the above descriptions in the Weston area last night to contact Crime Stoppers.

Rats-tail hairstyle… it’s a bit of a sweeping statement I know, but everyone I’ve ever met with a rat-tail has been slightly suss. Is it wrong to wish that one day somebody grabs this particular man’s rat-tail and pulls really hard, to see which breaks first – the hair or the scalp?

Cement and Metal? My wheelie bin is made from plastic.

These are weighted down to stop people pushing them over or taking them I think. They also have like a metal pole/frame that they attach to but maybe that is easily broken or simply lifted and thrown by 4 guys.

What do we call Thuggies in Weston Creek?

Tourists.

How about Wedgies??

I mean they are obviously just natures skid marks.

Weston Crooks

Wuggies? Weggies? Weckies?

Yeah, they’d just seen the latest VB ad in which the bloke with the bad hairdo is preening himself in the mirror.
