Police wrap - 14 July

So the latest from the boys in blue:

    1. One unregistered boozer has allegedly been busted trying to run away from the police:

“About 3.50am, Belconnen general duties patrols attempted to stop the alleged offender’s vehicle on Southern Cross Drive, Latham after noticing it was not displaying a rear registration plate. The vehicle then accelerated away on Kingsford Smith Drive. The vehicle continued along Belconnen Way in Hawker and Weetangera before the driver lost control in the wet conditions on a roundabout in Higgins, resulting in a minor collision. The pursuit lasted a few minutes. The driver was arrested and conveyed to City Police Station where she returned an alleged positive breath test of 0.123.”

Even better the alleged perpetrator is a 26 year old woman and a pill was found on her person which is off to the lab. Take note children: When up to dodgy business try to look like you’re legit.

All up she’s facing charges of “drink driving, unlicensed driving, using an unregistered and uninsured vehicle, possession of a prohibited substance and failing to stop as directed.”

    2. But the southside boyz weren’t to be outdone by the northside girls. Police also inform that an alleged 21 year old car thief has been collared in Gordon by the pyjama brigade after driving around a car allegedly stolen on 10 July.

    3. And sadly we’re told that the Electric Shadows Bookshop located on Mort Street has been knocked over by a knife weilding miscreant.

Police would urge anyone who may know the identity of the offender or who witnessed suspicious persons in Braddon around 6pm yesterday to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or report online to www.act.crimestoppers.com.au.

I didn’t Spidey-Dog.

“Heroin or Ice aren’t products where you’re going to lose customers of their own volition.” – Death will probably lower consumer numbers but the user wont mind… their family on the other hand…

Good work JB! You have selected a relatively small but a significant role Police perform but the “boyz and girls” bit was classic childish JB wit.

Farq – that was the most neutral post I have ever seen. You ok?

Not the drugs debate again,,,,,,, I thought we all agreed on total prohibition and lifetime jail sentences for offenders

Deadmandrinking5:02 pm 14 Jul 08

Sorry to double-post, but I should say prohibition.

Deadmandrinking5:02 pm 14 Jul 08

Howard was putting a lot of money into drug law enforcement; i.e. lock up offenders, he was anti-injecting rooms and pro-tougher sentencing. Pretty much the same thing.

tylersmayhem4:54 pm 14 Jul 08

I still think the “War On Drugs” is in the USA isn’t it?!

Deadmandrinking4:40 pm 14 Jul 08

If I start ranting about the price of drugs and how it’s affected by the war on drugs, I’m just going to get assaulted at the Basement again (oh, wait, that didn’t happen! Gee, I’m surprised). But you all know why drugs are so expensive. Bust one dealer, another one comes and raises the price. Heroin or Ice aren’t products where you’re going to lose customers of their own volition.

A while ago, I was watching some clips from a video that was featured on one of the crappy current affairs programs where they were interviewing ex-armed robbers about the best ways to deal with being robbed. One lady was saying that back in their day, they were just in it for the money, not drugs and they handled it very professionally. Nowadays, she was saying, alot of armed robbers don’t give a f-k. They pull off p*ss-poor amateur jobs and often screw up and the worrying thing about that is they can get violent when they do.

A high risk of being recognised?

tylersmayhem4:28 pm 14 Jul 08

You’re right DMD, it is bad to hear about the Electric Shadows bookshop. If it wasn’t enough having the original cinema shut down recently.

Gone are the days when it was servo attendants with the high risk jobs. Next thing you know it will be the Subway opposite the old Centre Cinema (note that I refuse to recognise that place as what it is now). Mind you, if the junkies hold up Subway, they won’t be able to rock in after their fix for their food fix. Even makes sense to them?!

So you had your warnings and now the OT stuff is getting scrubbed.

Just so you know.

Deadmandrinking4:15 pm 14 Jul 08

I’m going to say it very slow…I…quit…that…job…okaaaaay. (In fact, over a year ago now!) What’s the problem with taking a nightfill job when you’re studying anyway?

That is sad to hear about the Electric Shadows Bookshop, but it’s a shop, it has money in the register, that’s all Junkies care about.

Argh, I mean “Is THIS the point I say something?”

Is the point I say something?

Johnboy, thank God You’re here.

tylersmayhem3:58 pm 14 Jul 08

Now the onslaught…*sigh*

tylersmayhem3:55 pm 14 Jul 08

Oh crap…that was actually Deadmandrinking I was referring to. Apologies VG (I never thought I’d have to utter those words to you).

I knew it was one of you two.

Stay on topic people..

What’s this post? A post about news or VG’s lack of posting.

tylersmayhem3:39 pm 14 Jul 08

I’ve heard that VG is apparently too busy packing Woolies shelves to pass his usual brash statements. Man I miss him already!

She thought she was playing GTA IV!

This reminds me of Winston Wolf in Pulp Fiction: “About the car, is there anything I need to know? Does it stall, does it make a lot of noise, does it smoke, is there gas in it, anything?… Don’t get me out on the road and I find out the brake lights don’t work.”

Where’s VG to tell us that this isn’t news?!!!
I thought none of this is anyones’ business?!!

heh heh heh, Belconnen, it’s never dull.

neanderthalsis12:04 pm 14 Jul 08

oops, my bad

“And sadly we’re told that the Electric Shadows Bookshop located on Mort Street has been knocked over by a knife weilding miscreant.”

What sort of gormless twat would rob a book store like the Electric Shadows? Did he have an uncontrolable urge for a hit of Satre?

And as for the bint on the bulldozer, they should hand her over to the OH&S bods to do her for not wearing a high vis vest and opperating the machinery unlicensed. The fine from them would be worse than anything the ACT courts would hand out.

A silly moll and a dumbass, must be all in a weekends work for the boys in blue. Thank god they can now go before the court to pay for their crime. I think court costs are about $50.00 for a wrist slapping!

What will next weekends entertainment be?
